We had a very good time, since the place is perfect to relax. The rooms are comfortable and modern. It was nice to hear the sounds of the jungle.
Fred and Pilou a very friendly and helpful and always open for a chat. The whole atmosphere felt very hospitable.
We will definitely come back!

Geweldige tijd gehad bij Pilou en Frederique! Nog niet eens zo zeer door de locatie, maar juist door de eigenaren zelf! Heel zorgzaam, attent, warm en hartelijk vanuit het hart! Het ontbijt was top, diverse keuzes en vooral de eigen gemaakte bananenjam was verrukkelijk. Ze hebben beiden er alles gedaan om ons verblijf zo prettig mogelijk te maken, wat zeer gewaardeerd werd ;-) Omdat we hun bamboe broodmandje zo leuk vonden, hebben zij dit speciaal voor ons laten bezorgen op het eiland, super lief!
Alle excursies die ons leuk leken, hebben ze voor ons geregeld, ook een tweetal echt goede restaurants, verderop op het eiland als tip gegeven.
Het zwembad is heerlijk, op loopafstand zijn er diverse goede eetgelegenheden. Bungalow is prima. Strand is op loopafstand, je hebt een scooter nodig om de andere stranden te bereiken. Je hebt sowieso een scooter nodig om je te kunnen verplaatsen. Die is bij de buurvrouw te huur, voor een prima prijs.
Pilou maakt de heerlijkste cocktails, mooi uitzicht vanaf de roofbar. Je krijgt een badhanddoek, als je gebruik maakt van het zwembad/ of strand. kortom, hier ga je echt een fijne tijd krijgen!

The place is absolutely breathtaking! From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the beauty that surrounded us. The location offers a perfect blend of nature, with the nearby forest, mountains, and the sparkling sea, all embraced by a comforting sense of security. It truly feels like being in the heart of an exotic and untouched paradise.
The owners of the place are simply delightful! Their warm and welcoming nature made us feel instantly at home. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional, providing us with invaluable tips and recommendations about the island and other must-visit places. Thanks to their guidance, we discovered a charming restaurant that will forever be etched in our memories; the food was nothing short of divine!
A special shout-out goes to Pilou and Fred, the incredible hosts who made our experience truly unforgettable. Their genuine care and attention to detail surpassed all expectations. We feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet them and be their guests. They are without a doubt the best hosts we have ever encountered.
In addition to the enchanting surroundings and wonderful hosts, the property boasts a magnificent swimming pool that was an absolute savior during the scorching midday heat. Taking a refreshing dip in the pool was an incredible way to cool down and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. And let's not forget the lovely garden, adding an extra touch of serenity and natural beauty to the whole experience.
Overall, discovering this place has been an extraordinary stroke of luck. We are filled with gratitude for the remarkable experience and the memories we have created. This is truly a place that leaves an indelible mark on one's soul. Thank you again to Pilou and Fred for creating such a haven of beauty and hospitality.
The only downside of our stay was that we had to reluctantly continue our trip. We were so captivated by the place that we couldn't help but wish for a time-stopping device to extend our stay indefinitely. Pilou and Fred, if only you could have magically made our departure date disappear, we would have happily stayed forever, leaving all our travel plans behind!

we have been travelling for 3 months, we spent two weeks here as we enjoyed it that much. rooms were great, worth the money, pool was beautiful and clean, staff were amazing and breakfast was all homemade, incredible. Pilou and Fred (owners) go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect.
we cannot thank them enough for the amazing time we spent at Lazy Republique.
To get to the nearby towns/ bars must be willing to drive a moped. as only a couple of restaurants walking distance.
Next door but one there is a beautiful Thai restaurant which is incredible.
We even did a class of Yoga, with Ewa, who was a teacher staying at the property and Pilou joined in.
Thankyou for the best two weeks, hopefully see you both again.

The room was great - spacious and comfy - but it was the hospitality that really stood out. The owners made us feel at home immediately, always remembered our breakfast preferences and we loved hanging out with them and getting to know their story over delicious cocktails at the bar. The pool area is wonderful too - excellent beanbags :)

Amazing stay. The hosts treated us like family. We were treated to wonderful breakfasts, locally made jam, fresh pastries and French cocottes. At night we enjoyed cocktails and wine in the bar. I stayed in 3 different hotels in the area during my trip and this was by far the best (and the most reasonably priced). Hope to return again!

It’s a very familiar and stylish place. The owners are very very friendly and if there was an issue it was fixed immediately. The breakfast is extraordinary - every day we got some selfmade banana bread/ cake /brownie (beside the regular breakfast 10/10) which was selfmade - so lovely !!!

When searching for a place to stay at Koh Chang, I was drawn to the great reviews for Lazy Republique. Well, I can say they are accurate and our stay was very relaxing and comfortable.
Fred and Pio are fantastic hosts and nothing is a problem. They made our stay even more memorable. Fred's breakfasts are a vary welcome start to the day, as are Pio's cocktails are great way to unwind at the end of the day.
The location is scenic and quiet. There is a great value Thai/European restaurant very close by and a variety of shops and markets a short scooter ride away.
The units are self contained, comfortable and of a good size. There is no TV, which I appreciated for a location like this. If you want to make a coffee in your room, Fred will provide you with a kettle.
Everything was entirely satisfactory.

Room was middle. Way up to the room difficult to pass with the suitcases. Rooms have a lot of gaps, which bugs and all kind of insects come in. Noises in the walls.

We were supposed to stay 1 week, but ended up extending another week because we absolutely loved everything about this place! The bungalows, the breakfast (you need to try the “french cocotte”!), the bar and the owners were amazing.

Stressed and on the verge of rude owners. Very hard beds (even for someone who likes hard beds) with plastic underneath the sheets that doesn't breathe (gives that cheap motel feeling). Pillows not up to standard, AC too cold or too warm. No warning about the stuff in the "mini bar" aka the fridge costing money or any price list in the room on that - you don't expect a mini bar in this place so it should be clearly advertised - but the prices were resonable. Otherwise it was fine.

Rooms are minimalistic, but contemporary, large and clean. Staff are very friendly and facilities are good for the price although the rooftop bar was shut during our stay. Breakfast was really good and homecooked by the French owners.
Food is good, but limited to mostly French cuisine so might not be everyone's cup of tea. English breakfast was just scrambled eggs and bacon...

- Breakfast was just amazing ! I tried almost all different choices from the menu and I always enjoyed my food. As I am a french people, I can guarantee you that you will not get disappointed, we can feel the french touch from the owners on the food. Try out the french cocotte, delicious !
- Concerning the room, the bed was really big and comfy. I and my partner slept very well. Another point to mention, the quiet atmosphere. You just hear the noise from the jungle and it's so calming.
- The owners Fred and Philippe are lovely, really nice and helpful ! On the last day, we had to leave the island before the starting time for breakfast and they made it a bit earlier just for us to eat before we left ! I appreciated this flexibility. They also can give you tips on what to do on the island and help you to find motorbikes for rent.
Nothing big to declare. Everything was great ! Only some bugs that came sometimes in the room but it is normal, we are in the jungle and it's part of the game.
