Dans l’esprit d’une auberge de jeunesse, les chambres ne sont pas bien grandes et très simples, mais les espaces communs sont propres et agréables, patio, sauna, hot spot, rendent le séjour agréable. Douches et sanitaires propres, petit déjeuner très correct.
Un peu cher par rapport à des logements similaires. Mais c’est la Norvège…

This is a wonderful place in an amazing location run by a lovely family with everything you could wish for. Excellent value for money. The facilities are top quality. The shared bathrooms are not a problem and beautifully appointed.

The location is very good and convenient for exploring Stryn, Loen and the surrounding area. The staff were friendly, and check-in in the “barn” was easy and worked well.
We knew before booking that Lodgen is a lodge/base camp concept and that the toilets and showers are shared, so this was exactly as described. We stayed on the second floor, where there was a warm shared toilet, with more toilets and showers downstairs.
Each person had a pillow, duvet and towel, and the accommodation was clean. For one night, all the basic things we needed were there.
For the price, the level of comfort felt very basic. The beds creaked loudly every time someone moved or turned around. The house has been converted into accommodation and the sound insulation is poor. Especially around the connecting doors, we could clearly hear people talking in the neighbouring rooms, so there was not much privacy.
Breakfast was disappointing. There were only two kinds of cheese and two kinds of cold cuts. Guests had to cut the cheese themselves with a shared knife, which I personally did not find very hygienic. We also saw chipped or damaged dishes mixed together with the normal dishes.
Guests are asked to remove their shoes before going upstairs, which I actually think is a good rule. Unfortunately, some guests ignored it and walked upstairs in outdoor shoes after the rain while other people were walking there in socks.
We understand that this is a base camp and not a traditional hotel, and the shared facilities were clearly described before booking. Still, for the price, we expected a little more comfort. For us, most of the price seemed to come from the excellent location rather than the facilities themselves.
