Business trip in Sausalito. Overall the hotel was fine. The " hillside cottage" rooms require climbing stairs, which all in all, was not very bad. A bit like a maze at first, but in one day I had it down. . Front desk staff is totally awesome. The room itself was a little small & felt tight, and the sink fixtures were not tightened- they tended to come off, but really a very minor problem. This place had some great views,a perfect location, and it was really clean. Decent gym for a boutique hotel. Definitely recommended...

If this is VIP Access experience, I am really sorry about regular one.
My whole review is longer but long story short: either it is a discrimination issue (they pick the customers to behave nice versus bad) or some of the staff is good while the rest is the worst.
We arrived early (11.11 am sharp), we totally understood the room being not ready. it should not be big science to be able to make an estimate to say when. they had a memorized script “we will call you when it is ready”. We have a toddler so we walked around, had some fun, came back at 2.30. waited until 3.30 pm at lobby. No one offered something or even sempatized. I want to make smt clear; yes they don’t have to but these are things makes some hotels better than others! Around 10 pm our son was coughing so we wanted to ask for late check out (I had read it they could offer that), my husband went downstairs. The late night shift staff told him “It could most probably possible but he has to check in the morning at 8 am.” What? This is the weirdest reply. Late shift staff is much nicer but they don’t have any authority I presume. So in the morning he went, they said “we are fully booked”. Without even asking room number. memorized script. I checked hotels.com app, they had 3 available rooms for the very same day! I told them what I see, he says “11 am check out time”. So, if you want to feel like you are staying a low end hotel with a great room while paying high end hotel money, go for it. I hope this helps

The Casa Madrona has an excellent location, with a view of the bay and easy access to some of Sausalito's best restaurants. The room was large, the bath amazing, and the staff was very friendly and professional. I especially want to celebrate a night employee, who name is Leah (I'm not sure of the spelling) who was a valuable ally during a very disturbing and emotional family emergency. While I prefer not to describe the incident, Leah jumped to my assistance and helped me resolve the problem quickly and safely. I will never forget her kindness, compassion, and professionalism in my time of need.

What a remarkable hotel on the bay in Sausalito! EVERYONE at the hotel was fabulous, from the moment we pulled up until our reluctant departure. Gorgeous view of the marina and San Francisco Bay. Close to fabulous food and fun shopping. Will visit again soon!

This was a great place to for our last night in Northern California. It is centrally located and we were within walking distance of many of Sausalito’s attractions. I would happily stay here again in the future!

Unit for heater was loud. Able to hear other guests in room next door. Outside noise from cars / trucks from street.

I was staying in the Hillside Cottage ADA room and the sound the heater made when it kicked on sounded like a diesel bus just outside the window- kept me up all night. Walls are quite thin and was listening to someone talking on their cell phone at 7am. Really disappointing because I wanted to love it

I’ve now stayed a total of two weeks at the Casa Madrona. I love Sausalito. This time, my room was expensive yet not overpriced: it was large and comfortable, clean and luxurious. Most front desk staff were incredibly welcoming; one was rude. Appreciate the EV charging. This time, bad air from cement plants across the bay was stuck in my room, but last time the air was clear and beautiful.

This property has breathtaking views and surpassed. Any idea that I had about this place. I highly recommend it. We stayed in the cottage. The sunrise was beautiful overlooking the water. Very steep incline for anybody with disabilities. That’s the only downfall. Otherwise, it’s worth the extra money!

The parking was a mess and the valet was so insistant and pushy when we arrived late at night at helping us park, he wouldn't let us park on our own. He insisted on checking my name on a list before I even walked into the front desk to check in. Then he followed me to the desk and pushed my husband to use his services to help us park, instead of just telling us how to park ourselves, which is what we wanted. In the end, he didn't realize what building we were in, took us to the wrong area to park, then drove me and our bags back down to the main building, while my husband had to park the car on his own anyway, and then find his way back down without me and try to find me to get into our room, as I had the key. The valet then insisted on putting our small amount of luggage on a cart, instead of letting me pull my bag and take my husband and my backpacks, to take me to my room, which made me very uncomfortable. It was obvious he was trying to help and wanted a tip, but in the end, he made the parking and check-in experience so complicated and take so long for my husband and I that we were frustrated and angry in the end. Not a good way to start our romantic weekend away from the kids that we were splurging on. Then, housekeeping knocked on our door at 10:30 to start cleaning our room, when we were only there for one night and checking out at 11. We were showering and packing and trying to get out the door, and felt they were trying to rush us out. Ridiculous for what we paid.

Rooms are not private. Can hear everything going on inside other rooms through the walls. And from the outside. Our room smelled of sewage and had a massive water leak come through the ceiling in the middle of the night. A motel with luxury hotel prices, location is good though.

Private room with balcony, historic building, grest views
Didnt like thre was no smoking area for smokers
