I stayed here on a solo trip for 4 nights. Everything was great. The facilities are clean and the rooms are big, the pool and beach are both great, and the food wasn’t out of this world amazing but I can’t complain about it (I didn’t eat at any of the restaurants though, just at the buffet). There are plenty of activities by the pool - ring toss, pool aerobics, etc. during the day and silent disco, music, dancing at night - if that’s your kind of thing. I was happy enough to hang out nearby the pool activities each night and read my book/enjoyed the atmosphere and drinks. As a solo traveler, this is not the best place if you’re into socializing and making friends, but it’s pleasant enough if you just want a few days of alone time.
I got a cab into Puerto Plata on my third day - it was nice to walk about and see the umbrella street, etc. especially on a rainy day. I will say that the hotel reception told me not to call an Uber because apparently there is drama between Ubers and cab drivers (?) but I took an Uber back to the resort at less than a quarter of the cost of the taxi they called for me, and it was fine, so I wonder if the resort has some kind of deal with cab drivers. Other than that, I had a perfect stay!

We took a chance with this resort and we could not be more happy with our stay. The staff was amazing especially Raul the manager for the morning and lunch buffet and Agustin the manager for the Octopus restaurant. Big thank you to Raul and Agustin. We took this trip to celebrate my daughter’s 18th b-day Raul and Agustin made it extra special. The Bartender Osvaldo in the main lobby made our drinking time extra fun and we looked forward to seeing him everyday. The entertainment team was amazing Pamela, Delfy, Henry, and Dominique was super nice. They made sure we are enjoying our stay. The resort was clean and well kept. The rooms could use some updates but the people, beach, food and the happy environment around us made up for it. The other guests were super friendly and even though this was a trip for two we felt like part of a crowd all the time. Our stay was amazing I will return to this resort.

This is a 2 not a 4 star hotel. I had a very unpleasant experience at the resort. The room is not worth the money I paid which is over $200. It looked like a motel and not a hotel. Internet at my room didn't work, I had to go to the reception every day to remind them to do something about it. They didn't do anything. I had no hand soap in the room, I had to follow up 3 times! I had water on the floor from the AC, they didn't fix it. There is no designated area for smoking, so people smoke everywhere. It is disgusting! I couldn't relax at the beach or by the pool because of it and had to move all the time once someone started smoking. They asked not to hang towels on the balcony because they care about the hotel esthetics but they have no drying racks in the room or balcony. Where we supposed to hang them! They have free Internet in a public area, which doesn't work, and the sign says "do not use to make calls or watch videos." What a joke. The food is mediocre, they need variety and better quality bread. What a disappointment over all. I don't recommend the place.

We loved our stay. The food and the options are great. The resort always had entertainment through out the day and night. We always had a clean room and fresh linens daily. The area is close to the airport and convenient. The only downside was the language was strong Spanish and very broken English made communication difficult at times. Overall loved our stay even tried to change our flight to stay longer……couldn’t believe it was even January back in the US….it really felt like Paradise.

Overall a decent hotel with some nice staffs and food but very disappointed for the price I paid for an all inclusive hotel and didn’t t have a great experience. First the staff in the reception were very rude , the first person who was checking us in, said she had to leave because she wasn’t willing to stay after 3:00pm. we had to wait for the other person to come in to finish which was very rudeas well. We reserved 3 rooms, which were not ready although they said that rooms were assign the day before. We got there at 2:54pm after a little nit they only gave us a room and then the other one and I with two small kids have to wait until 6:00pm to get a room. Same day we got there we asked to make reservation for the restaurant they said we couldn’t make it until next day 8am-3pm we went next day around 9:00am and there were not restaurant available to reserve. It was very inconvenient and it seems they don’t communicate to each other. I was hoping to have a nice experience to got back but Unfortunately it won’t happen.

Great place, would definitely go back. The staff made the experience. Carlos at check in greeted us and checked in with us multiple times during the week. Ernesto was the best bartender. He had our drink orders memorized and has an amazing singing voice. Henry in the entertainment group never stops going and is always so much fun and personable. I cannot say enough about the amazing staff here. Food at the Buffett was really good every meal. Rosa with the hand sanitizer is so sweet. They work hard to keep the place very clean. My only cons would be the adult pool and the nightlife could be better.

We had to do some use the laundry service for a few items. We paid $ 60.00. It was expensive. I prefer to have a laundromat and do my own laundry.
The vendors at the beach really take advantage of the tourists. The prices for the items are excessive and some of them get rude with the tourist.
Other than that it was an amazing experience! The staff was very kind and friendly.

THE STAFF WERE VERY NICE. FOOD SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. BEAUTIFUL LOCATION AND FACILITY. UPKEEP OF TECHNOLOGY WAS NEEDED. THE ROOM PHONE DIDN'T WORK AND THE STAFF NEVER FIXED IT. SOME OF THE EXERCISE MACHINES IN THE GYM NEEDED REPAIR. OVERALL IT WAS A GOOD VALUE.

This was an amazing all inclusive resort hotel. The drinks and food were great. The daytime activities were fun. Everywhere was clean and organized. The staff were lovely. Excursions came to the resort to pick us up and drop us off. The outside of the resort is walkable with a shopping mall right next door.

Just a decent service without nothing to be surprised for. I visited in Feb'23 and I think that experience was inferior now in Dec'23, not enough waitress during peak hours at main restaurant, bartenders should be more friendly and drinks should improve. Good food, overall service/experience was probably not worthy for what we paid for.

Pros: food is amazing. Best resort food weve ever had! Overall nice pool and friendly staff. The night shows are fun to watch. Very family oriented and great for kids!

The good: the food is ok and the beach is nice.
The bad: the check in was awful with more than hour's wait, the room was dirty (mildew on shower curtain, stained tub, holes in curtain, spill in fridge, musty smell), the room was noisy, and the room was poorly maintained (the door knob in the bathroom was in awful shape, as was the tub tap, the light above the shower appeared to have mold and did not work). The room was very noisy. There was only one outlet in the room, no USB outlets and two double beds. There was no hot water for the shower on the first two days. No lotion in the bathroom. No iron in the room. Laundry service was expensive ($2US for a pair of underwear). There is no food service from 5pm to 6:30pm. Many towels were threadbare. The gift shop was very expensive ($16US for 18 tampons $25US for sunscreen $5US for a bag of M&Ms). The property does not have elevators. The onsite internet is mediocre at best. The Dominican does not feel safe enough to go off resort property.
The OK: they sent maintenance and did a deep clean, and we switched rooms at day 2 (mostly due to noise) - with the new room being quieter and seemingly better maintained.
In short: the budget hotel we booked for our return from the Dominican was far better value, we are unlikely to return to this property.

Me and my family spent a week at VH Gran Ventana and we had a great time. It has easy access to the pool and the beach, entertainment varies every day and they do a great job keeping every area clean. However, the food was terrible. They offered almost fhe same every day and the food QUALITY is poor and it tastes really bad. We had to spend more money eating outside. As much as we love this place, we are not planning on going back because the food is that bad.

The grounds well kept. Excellent pool. Very attentive staff: Raul in the dining room so attentive. A young cook who's name I forgot making a mean omelet. Andrea on the pool bar, all smiles and makes great drinks. Beach with plenty of lounge chairs and the water cool and soothing. Rooms excellent ac, very clean and cleaning ladies courteous and very willing to clean your room. Had pop ups that wouldn't go away on the TV, they weren't able to correct it...but they got a new TV for the room!! Fixed problem!!! The only minor issues I saw was the variety of food although what they offered was flavourful and appetizing.
