Bathroom very small.

Located one block from the Star Line Ferry dock, easy walking distance from downtown shopping and historical sites. Enjoyed the view from the front porch, and the warmth of the fireplace during our visit in the fall. Highly recommend a meal in the 1852 Grill Room.

Loved the quaint feel but it was actually updated

Wonderful staff and beautiful, historic property.

History of the hotel.

The hotel is full of history and in a perfect location. The process getting from the ferry to the hotel couldn’t be easier, and the fire pits are such a relaxing end to the day. Our daughter loved the pool, and breakfast at the restaurant was pricey, but good. The mini-fridge was perfect for evening drinks and snacks. Will definitely be back!

The rooms are definitely ready for upgrades. Bathroom was probably last updated in the 70's. I expected a much nicer room for $500.00 a night. I personally would not stay at this location again until the facility was upgraded.

Beautiful property! Very top notch.

Room was small, cramped, no place for luggage in the room, bathroom was tiny, no sink in the bathroom, instead the sink was in the bedroom. Staff was great.

Nice staff but overpriced and subpar rooms. Bedding torn and stained. A real disappointment after high expectations.

Normally we stay at another hotel (think colorful equine), but they were full. It was fortunate for us because we LOVED the Island House! So much history. So lovely. Such wonderful old-time service. So close to all the action yet just down the block so not exposed to the wandering masses. The views from the room and the front porch were amazing! The pool and hot tubs were clean and relaxing (75 and sunny on Oct.2nd!). Service at the restaurant was fabulous and I truly believe they served the most delicious whitefish I have ever tasted. This is our new first choice option for Mackinaw Island lodging.

What a beautiful stay at the Island House! The property was impeccable. From the lobby to the room to the pool and hot tub, everything smelled so fresh and clean which is really important to me! The location is perfect - close to downtown and hiking trails. The view from the front porch is glorious. I would not hesitate to stay here again! Well done, Island House! 😊

Beautiful property, great staff and service and wonderful location- walkable and they deliver your luggage to and from the ferry. Couldn’t be better!

Room was small with a very loud air conditioner…like sleeping next to a 747 ready for takeoff.

The Island House has a beautiful location, lakefront and close to the town for restaurants and shopping. It is a gem of a property. The hotel policies could use some updating, I.e., you have to request housekeeping services each day before 10am, instead of the hotel providing it automatically. Coffee is not available in the lobby until 8am. Maybe they should consider having it available at 6am.

The hotel is relaxing, right on the water. Great getaway.

The visit to Mackinaw Island was fantastic and the stay at Island House was fantastic. It is a charming property with an interesting history. It was conveniently located and had excellent amenities (bike rental, swimming pool, restaurant, outdoor seating, firepit, etc.) onsite.

Beautiful hotel, however, my husband and I and our friends are fairly tall and the fourth floor ceilings were slanted so somebody had to crouch, while getting in and out of bed… Something to be aware of

My parents and I stayed 4 nights for our annual trip to the Island. It was our first time staying at the Island House and it was wonderful! The atmosphere was so relaxing and inviting. The unique amenities such as the chimineas out on the front lawn were perfect for sitting around to enjoy a fire and take in the night air. The pool and outdoor hot tube were also very relaxing.

I enjoyed the lovely setting overlooking the harbor, the easy access to downtown, the general quiet, the comfortable room, the pool and hot tub, and the friendly reception staff.
My one gripe concerns the hotel's miscommunication about their Ice House BBQ restaurant. I read in several places that the Ice House restaurant would be closed after Labor Day, and was therefore surprised and disappointed to discover late on my last evening of lodging -- on the Thursday after Labor Day -- that that restaurant was in fact still open. Although I was too late to dine there, I was able to walk through their lovely outdoor setting at the back of the property. I look forward to dining there on my next visit to Mackinac Island.

Hit my head very hard on 4th fl ceiling. Cant sit up in bed because slope of ceiling is so low. Very claustrophobic.
Didnt warn us that elevator only goes to 3rd fl and then walk up very narrow stairs to 4th fl.
We spent over 350.00 for a extremely small room. Very uncomfortable.
The veranda in front was pleasant and had a good view.
It was quite clean.

This was a beautiful hotel! So close to everything. We could not ask for anything more. And the Ice House BBQ was delicious!

Perfect location, stay here on Mackinac Island!! This hotel was a 5 minute walk into the downtown area and about 10/15 minutes to Mission Point area. Loved that it was not in the bustling downtown area but very close. My mom and I enjoyed the chairs on the lawn for morning coffee while watching the world go by. We spent time reading on the front porch rocking chairs too.
We enjoyed the pool and hot tub one afternoon too. I will stay here again when I come.
Two complaints about the stand double room - 1) the bathroom light is outside the bathroom about a foot away from the door over the dresser, so we kept knocking things off the dresser at the night we went to the bathroom and tried to turn on the light. No we never learned to move the stuff off the dresser before we went to bed. 2) the AC unit was blowing black chunks out that landed on both beds. We hoped it was not unhealthy to breathe in for a weekend and forgot to mention it when we checked out.

My favorite part was sitting in the chairs in the front lawn with a drink in my hand people watching.

Stayed 3 nights 4 days at the Island House Hotel with two adults and two children ages 10 and 6. Overall, good stay; however, would have appreciated more sensitivity and accommodation for dining experience, especially since I called ahead to verify food allergies with staff beforehand. I was informed by the front desk that the Head Chef Phil would oversee dining options for our child with food allergies and would speak to us before ordering (had restaurant 1852 reservations). However, this did not take place which I’m surprised, because even at chain restaurants like Bravos, the restaurant head chefs will take the time to come out and assure us that there will not be any cross contamination of food due to our child’s severe life threatening food allergy. At any rate, I had high expectations for this he Island House based on ratings from Trip Advisor, but moved a notch down due to this experience. Beautiful, well-kept grounds. Bike Rental is on-site and a plus. Be ready to pay for coffee at 1852 Grill if you order breakfast, all prices are high onsite. The BBQ at ICE house for dinner was really delicious. Ordered the brisket and had no regrets. Even had a friendly dog visitor Bean that we fed leftovers to. Nice atmosphere at ICE restaurant; the hotel should definitely consider having heat lamps near the dinner table for cold nights dining outside and padding for the seats.

The renovations made all so welcoming, comfortable and clean. Service was impeccable with desk and restaurant personal professional, friendly and always going beyond! The cuisine was the best of gourmet. The view brought the best of peace and relaxation.

Had an amazing stay. Beautiful property. Close to downtown yet away from the hustle. Travelled with 3 kids and very convenient . Loved the chimney fires in the evening and rocking chairs on the porch.

Our family had a great time at the Island House Hotel. Location was great and made great use of the pool, hottub and restaurants on-site!

The lawn and flowers are beautiful. Gorgeous views of the boats coming and going. The walk into town is not far and it is nice that it is in a much quieter location than downtown. Enjoyed our stay. You pay for the charm of staying here more than the actual room which is very small and simple.
