the toilet didn’t flush the entire stay, dead flying ants by air conditioner, air conditioner didn’t work as well.

That bed was a trainwreck. Too soft and worn. My husband and I could not get in and out of it. I opted for the foot of the bed and he slept on the little couch. Also, the bathroom counter was too small or no where to put my travel bag in the bathroom. The bedroom was spacious enough but a lot of wasted space.

This hotel was very clean. The staff were polite and very friendly! My wife and I stayed one night and they remembered why we were there and asked how our evening went. Highly recommend!

Everything was good until we found out the shower faucet was broken and wouldn’t turn on. So no showering. Told the desk at checkout and clerk could have at least said “sorry for the inconvenience “but nothing.

The hotel was ok ....the main reason i booked it is because they advertise they have a spa tub well they dont. It appears they were trying to repair walls since some are half painted or patched and you can see the different colors of paint when you are paying around $200 per night you expect better than this .... also the parking lot is small so if towing anything you wont fit... I would not recommend this hotel with so many others in the area its too pricey for what you get

The lady behind the desk, Theresa, was nice, professional, helpful, and kind. It was our first trip to South Bend, and she gave us some helpful information about Notre Dame. She is certainly an asset to the hotel

I have stayed at several Holiday Inn Express locations before and this was, by far, the worst. Where do I start? Upon entering the lobby, I noticed an emergency exit sign dangling by a single wire The website for the hotel has a picture of a pool with a hot tub. Upon arriving, I went to the pool to find that the hot tub no longer exists. It was filled in with concrete. The room door had gaps with lots of hallway lighting bleeding through at night. The in-room AC unit was made the carpet directly below it wet to the touch. The bed top had dead bugs on it The bath tub had a broken stopper. So if you wanted to take a bath, you were out of luck. Only one of two ice machines were working Only one of two dryers in the guest laundry were working This sounds like a list of nit picky complaints but these are all easily fixable and they seem too lazy to fix or have no money for basic maintenance On the upside, the beds were very comfortable! Yes, I sucked it up and stayed anyway, as I was just staying one night. If im ever back in South Bend, Im going elsewhere

Our king bed suite was very big and nice. The room was clean and well stocked with toiletries and coffees for the Keurig. The bed was comfortable and had several king sized pillows. The breakfast was top notch with both hot and cold options along with a wide variety of hot and cold drinks as well. I would definitely stay here again.

There was a mix up in dates when scheduling with Expedia. We wanted to schedule for June 3rd, but the date accidently selected was June 16th. Neither Expedia or HI Express of South Bend would change the date or cancel the charge. It was poor service and poor marketing. Sterling Laaveg.

The hotel room has a tired & worn look. Dry wall tape pealing on the ceiling, missing tile in the bathroom. No attempt to hide or organize power cords under the desk. Had to wait a couple of minutes without being greeted while the front desk clerk finished a call. She could have at least looked up at me and nodded.

The only positive to comment on is the fact that breakfast was available every morning. The rest of the hotel was an absolute dump. I’ve stayed at several Holiday Inn Express hotels in the past and usually got the same good experience but this is an exception. Our room had drywall that was literally cracked and had holes in it. The bathroom and sheets were dirty from the guests that stayed before us. I’m talking hair, dirt, and even blood in some areas. The pull out couch was covered in white stains. No towels or bar of soap in the bathroom. There were several light bulbs burnt out. There was a ceiling fan hanging so low I hit my head on it and it was covered in so much dust it looked like dryer lint. The wall thermostat was inoperable so we controlled it from the controls on the window unit. Every 30 minutes the shower would drain water out, something I’ve never experienced, which kept me up most of the night. One of the tv’s were broken. Outside of the room, the amenities are not as advertised. The pool door is broken so it’s propped open. The hot tub is filled with concrete so it’s literally not there anymore. The pool itself was so foggy you couldn’t see past the second step and it looked like a dirt/oil mix floating on the whole surface. Out of curiosity, I felt the temperature of the water and it was ice cold. The stairwell up to our room had someone’s clothes on the steps and they were there for two days! This experience was shared by other guests we met at the hotel.

Smaller hotel. It appeared to have been recently remodeled. The room was spacious. It could have been cleaned better - specifically the bathroom. There were definitely some questionable people that stayed there- although I understand this isn't the hotel's fault. Overall, it was a decent stay for the price.

We were disappointed that our toilet didn’t work on Saturday night and no plumber was available AND there were no rooms to move us to since hotel was full. We had to use the hotel lobby toilet for the 12-15 hours we were without a toilet. Since room was paid thru Expedia, we were told we had to take the issue up with Expedia for any compensation.

I've stayed here before with no issues, so I booked it again for my return trip. When I got to the hotel I noticed very few cars. Upon going in, the guy behind the desk said their systems were completely down and couldn't check anybody in, and I would have to call the booking company (in my case hotels.com/expedia) to have them call to get a refund. He wasn't overly apologetic or helpful with the process. It was a bit painful dealing with hotels.com to get them to verify, then call the hotel directly, to get a refund. There should be a better way to get a refund when there is a failure by the hotel than to deal with customer service for 20 minutes.

Other than the breakfast the place was very nice. CLEAN! Breakfast was a disappointment. The person in charge said the truck didn't come in. Well, if you don't have eggs because of the truck, take some petty cash and go buy eggs at a grocery store to cook up. Breakfast area wasn't well stocked with all items except pork products.
