Check-in was lousy. We booked in October for December stay for 2 double bed. After a long day of traveling, we were told only rooms available was 1 King bed. I was traveling with a girlfriend and I have health issue that require me to set my bed up a certain way for sleep in a specific way. To be told by staff "we sell rooms..not beds and can't guarantee amount of beds per room." Now that Im aware of Riu policy, would be a deterrent of me booking with them again. We were transferred to a room with 2 double beds. The hallway was a walk-through being close to pool/entertainment that created noise during the night. The Wifi at hotel was lousy. No concierge, force to use hotel App for everything..at times not successful. The room was fair condition, nothing special. The food was good. Most of the staff was ok. Service was just ok. Entertainment was ok. My highlight was the silent disco that happen to be schedule on friend birthday. We had a good time. All in all, ratings would be fair. Don't think I would visit Riu Palace again. Not enough comfort for me. To be fair in review I visited Majestic Elegance last month which provided concierges all over hotel for assistance to make stay comfortable,.. along with your own butler to take care of your needs. Majestic Elegance was a beautiful looking hotel who provided comfort...making certain you enjoyed your stay. Riu Palace Jamaica did not provide that. First impression was lousy...got somewhat better but did not meet the mark.

The Wait Staff and Bar Tenders were great!! Paul, Mark and Alex were outstanding!! My room was ok but my travel companion had her door handle break almost immediately upon our arrival. She had to put her belongings in my room which made me have to re-arrange what I had planned to do.
They did not fix the issue for almost 4 hours and did not give her any of her payment back and she was injured during this event. The transportation was a mix up and we ended up calling for taxi transportation and then other transportation showed up! I asked the Gentlemen at the desk for change and he told me that they were $5 short in American money and never asked if I wanted Jamaican currency to make up for the shortage.
The resort was not bad however some of the experience was taken away by the beach dinner being over done! We went to the 24 hr spot and was only able to get snacks. This was not good when we expected a big dinner.

Very nice staff was excellent

what i didnt like about the property is that is was the most expensive and the dining was the worst out of all the hotels. Additionally the policy of not allowing another adult staying in RIU properties to visit another riu resident without charging them $250.

I definitely recommend this hotel I had a wonderful for the 6 days that I stayed. When I tell you the staff is amazing the hotel is super clean and friendly. The food at Montegobay restaurant was the best for me.

Nice spot I would love to do it again just not with the palace I would like to try the other hotels and see what they have to offer

The only thing I dislike is the food options that’s included with the all inclusive.

Great resort, the Palace is perfect since it’s quieter and you can just walk to other resorts to party. The party pool at Palace was the best with Paul the bartender. Great vibes, great weather. Food was good, but not delicious. Would definitely book again.

The Riu Palace is a fantastic resort. The staff is incredibly attentive and friendly. There is food for everyone no matter your taste. Activities are fun. We have been to this resort many times and have never been disappointed which is why we plan to go back again in the spring. Thank you Riu Palace for an awesome vacation!

Strike two The people that worked for Expedia were aggressive about booking over priced excursions & when we didnt and needed help she was being rude. Bad representation for Expedia. Ontop of that Expedia messed up with my name on my booking then charged me to fix it. That was strike one. I don't believe I'll book through Expedia again.

Enjoyed my stay at the RIU. My room was ok, needed some upgrades and the water at the sink didn’t get hot. But still enjoyed my stay at the Resort. The buffet food was tasty and no complaints with my drinks.

One of the best vacations I’ve been on. Staff were tentative, fun and prioritized guests. Food was delicious and we had everything we needed on-site…we didn’t even venture to the other resorts. Will recommend and will be back again.

It's a great place to vacation. Most of the staff is friendly. I have no complaints; there are many options for food, but it does not taste great.

My husband and I was there in September for our anniversary. Their maid stoled my husband gold necklace. I stop our maid in the hall way to ask for some more towels and she asked if we need our room clean I politely said no because we didn’t and she gave us the towels and told us if we need anything let her know. A few hours later we got ready to leave our room my husband placed his gold necklace I just bought him for our anniversary on top of the safe. Since we told her we didn’t need our room cleaned we wasn’t worried about anyone coming in. When we got back we noticed our bed was made up. We were rushing to make dinner reservations so we didn’t t realize his necklace was gone until we returned later that night. The staff didn’t take any accountability and never gave us the report of who enter our room. I will never stay here again this put a damper in our trip. It’s too bad because i enjoyed the amenities of the hotel but their staff is not trustworthy. Please make sure you utilize your safe if you stay at this hotel.

I hate to share negative feedback but if someone gave an honest review like the one I'm about to, we would have saved ourselves the trip.
1. The walls and ceiling in our room were covered in mold. It stank heavily of cleaner and then as our stay went on, the mold smell came through. The TV appeared stolen as it kept flashing a Demo Window covering a third of the screen which you couldnt turn off. The remote was a different make and model, didnt even work. From your room you can hear every. Blessed. Thing. All day and night. I mean everything! People talking, walking, doors slamming, yelling, as if it was right next door.
2. The 'beach' is hard packed sand, NO waves at all, no breeze, and all seaweed once you get past your waist. No one used it the whole 5 days we were there super sad.
3. Food at buffets is often on the bland side, we have low expectations.
But a good deal of this food was actually inedible. Every. Single. Dessert we tried for 4 days tasted like cleaner. One bite and done. Ick. I was so sad because I LOVE desserts!
4. Entertainment was GREAT!! That staff was friendly and made our stay so much better! So was the wait staff, especially Dr. Phil. But the front desk and kitchen was slow, unsmiling, no eye contact, you could tell they didnt want to be there.
5. The hallways and stairwells had the same discarded food in them for 2 days. And after the large bits were picked up you could tell the crumbs were left behind. Never again, save your $!

The property wasn’t the best. But it wasn’t the worst. The staff were very nice and it was clean. But the elevator was broken which made a lot of people take the stairs. The food options in the buffet were just “ok”, while the restaurants had decent items and good portion sizes.
Overall the resort needs some renovations as it was outdated. I would give it a 5.5/10.
Don’t believe the Tik Tok hype. It’s decent at best

Definitely would visit again. Staff was amazing.

Here’s a real honest review from someone who just left The RIU Palace. The Palace is supposed to be the upper echelons between the three properties. I like that you can eat and play at RIU Montego Bay and Reggae. Added bonus the Palace has 24hr room service and elevators. The rooms are dated & needs to be upgraded, but they keep the property & rooms very clean. The staff were nice and accommodating, the food was good for an all inclusive property. Download and make use of their App, book the speciality restaurant etc, their entertainment is top notch, Palace is the quietest of the two properties. Montego Bay is a huge property, lots of people, the food lines seem longer. The water park is nice and the walk between properties are a few minutes. The resort credits are a scam, yes I said what I said so if you are picking RIU just for the resort credits, please do yourself a favor and go with your number 1 pick. You can’t use the credits for hardly anything, not for room upgrades, romantic dinner on the beach, which is beautiful, I mean gorgeous but it’s the same food from the steak house that you can eat for free. Their credit system is some set $10-25 dollars off certain things BS, like $50 off car rental, $25 off spa, which is crazy. The economy has changed They try to nickel and dime you for everything so walk outside the property to take a white plate cab, they try to charge $20-60 but If you’re the type to stay on property with a little of everything, RIU is the place.

I went for birthday meetup with friends everything went great with the exception of my ground transportation when it was time to make reservations for my ride back to airport rep Tahjay was not available and I got the run around for an entire day of my stay she was professional or apologetic. I do wanna give a special shout to our bartender Tamar he was very nice and has a beautiful personality
