The Red Lion Inn is very charming, no question. The restaurant/pub is very good. My main issue is that the rooms are VERY noisy. All of the common areas are pre-war era wood planked flooring, including the staircases. They are beautiful, but they are crazy loud. This is an old place, so there is no sound deadening in the rooms. Bring your ear plugs. Second complaint is that the rooms are ridiculously dark. There was one floor lamp and one wall sconce for my entire room. Forget about doing any work. It is a cute place, and would stay here again, but just be aware.

The design of each of the rooms is different but retained the historic compound, while also bringing in the modern needs we all look for.

The innkeeper gave us a behind the scenes tour when we arrived. The history is fantastic. We enjoyed our stay and the room was so cozy.
What a beautiful area and great place to visit.

I stayed for one day at this hotel. It's an older building that's been completely refurbished. The room was excellent, with a comfortable bed and clean, well-equipped bathroom. My biggest complaint is that the parking lot isn't easy to get to. I decided to try to make one trip from my car to my room, which proved to be a wrong decision on my part. Because of my zeal to get to my room (I was anxious to watch the Red Sox game), I missed a step and fell on my way. I wasn't injured, but I filled out an incident report with the person at the desk, who could not have been more helpful. When I left, I drove my car out to the front (no on-street parking from 2AM-6AM) and loaded my car that way. Cohasset is a lovely New England town. The Inn has an interesting history and the refurbished room in which I stayed was just what I needed.

Staff was very accomodating. Loved the wide plank old floors with cut nails - straight from the 1700's. Room was updated and very charming. Would definitely recommend this historic inn

Could use a little paint on the outside and was very dark upon arriving back to the property late at night in the front. The room we stayed in was lovely and we loved the fireplace.

This Inn was amazing. Located in the middle of the cutest downtown area with shops and restaurants. The Inn had a wonderful restaurant with a very welcoming bar. The room was unbelievable. Four posted bed and two steps down to a cozy sitting room. The 1700 vibe was spectacular. Looking forward to another stay.

This is a charming old property with friendly staff, just the sort of place we enjoy. We're fine with the old furniture and the worn carpets--it's in the nature of an historic property. What disappointed us were things they could do better. The guest connection to the internet did not work at all. The front desk gave us the password for the business internet, but that was not much better; some website connected, most did not. Neither of us were able to access our email during our stay, an inconvenience that could be a disaster for some visitors. The room was musty and needed a good airing-out and vacuuming; one of the paper coffee cups left for us had obviously been used. Just a little attention to such details and this would be a first-rate place to stay.

The receptionist was very pleasant. Breakfast was composed of fresh warm croissants and blueberry muffin from French Memories. Fruit juice, cereal, milk, yoghurt and fresh coffee.

I booked a room with a clear picture of a round jacuzzi tub that would fit 2. When I got to our room, it was not the one in the pictures (false advertising). Instead it was a small 1 person jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. I immediately called front desk and the girl Taylor told me she had no other jacuzzi rooms available. That was the whole reason I even booked this hotel. Then we walked around property and saw that room #4, which their website shows a large jacuzzi tub, was vacant??
My fiancé went to ask if we could switch to that room and she gave us a story about the roof being in construction. I could see in the rooms windows & their was no construction in or above said room. So we went back to our room and I noticed it was very warm, so I turned off the heat and tried to put A/C on, but thermostat wouldn't go below 70. I am not a heat person so we had to open windows just to cool it somewhat. A half hour later & even though I had set it to air conditioning, the thermostat read 75!!
My fiancé had to drive back to our house to get a small portable fan, he did so because he saw how deflated and disappointed I was & knows that I don't handle being hot very well. We were disappointed the minute we walked into our room, and there was nothing done or even attempted to be done to make our stay more comfortable. Hospitality seemed to be non-existent. Not even the slightest attempt was made to change this feeling of disappointment and now we're leaving and wishing we had never come

Rustic, colonial building and decor. Although dining area was closed, three restaurants and bars are nearby.

The building was a historic site but blended modern features with the old structure. Beautiful grounds and the room was excellent. Staff was very friendly and seemed to genuinely love working there. Unfortunately the restaurant and pub were not open due to Covid issues.

The staff at this inn is exceptional. The manager and his staff went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. We were upgraded to the bridal suite, which was not only rustic and beautiful, but very clean. The jacuzzi tub and fireplace set the ambiance for a cozy, relaxing evening. We were offered a complementary beach pass to a local beach to borrow for the day. The inn is also located in town, so we were able to walk to a wonderful restaurant almost next door to the inn for dinner. We were given a nice boxed breakfast in the morning. We also went to the French bakery across the street from the inn to bring some almond croissants home to our family. We truly enjoyed our overnight a way. Thank you so much for top notch hospitality!

I enjoyed my stay even though it was only one night. The neighborhood was nice to walk around and very close to a public beach(within 10 minute drive). I recommend it!

Likes:location, staff, sense of history, size of room
Dislikes: condition of room, value for price
Shower was black with mold and tiles falling out
Carpet torn
Strong smell of vomit on one side of bed
Older TV poorly located
Balcony French door/window storm completely missing pane or screen
Lovely property in desperate need of renovation.
The staff, however, could not have been nicer. The front desk was very welcoming. The bartender was friendly and the bar was cozy with a real fireplace.
A shout out to Employee Ayla(?) Who lent me a phone charger from lost and found
