A quaint and comfortable Japanese Onsen getaway situated high up in Hakone. Best view from an Onsen ever, and the hotel always update the sunrise timing for guests to catch them at the onsen. 2 public baths are available, rotating between male and female so both genders get to experience them. Food is delicious with a good spread for breakfast, and a kaiseki / buffet combination for dinner.

Amazing and comfortable stay here at TenYu! The beds alone warrant a stay here in the gorgeous mountain and hot springs. What an amazing stay. After a long trip from Osaka to Hakone, it was an absolute treat to stay at this luxurious stay. And the hot springs? What an amazing view! Highly recommended!

(Air con was old and moldy) It was okay… the lobby needs a better clean, the buffet food was low quality and you have to make a reservation in advance if you want the regular dinner. Unfortunately no one replied to my message in advance to make a dinner reservation. Extra charge for baby bed was also not necessary. The foot onsen was really nice.

It was one of the nicest resorts. Complimentary various of tea, ice cream and coffee. Breakfast buffet was delicious with elegant presentation. I did get nervous when the front desk asked me for my son's passport during check-in. I have my passport but left my son's passport in the Tokyo's hotel.

Worth every penny! The breakfast buffet is beyond words. The hotel landscape and garden were so much to enjoy. The ensuite onsen bath offered the peacefulness and privacy for onsen first-timer.

The hotel is just beautiful. Both public and private Onsen are fantastic as we enjoyed them so much. The service is super. Breakfast is served with so many variety and so yummy. We just wish that we could stay here for one more night. Will definitely come back to TEN-YU. So worth the money, strongly recommend the hotel.

Shuttle bus was amazingly convenient, rooms were gorgeous and the in room onsen was a godsend! One of the best breakfast buffets I’ve ever had. Dinner was a bit annoying because we didn’t have a reservation so we just went to a convenience store that was like a 5 minute walk. The garden was beautiful also.

The room is spacious and clean, with many tea options and condiments. We love different wine/tea brews, free ice creams and live music in the lobby. Bees from both 5th floor and 6th floor onsens are spectacular.

I can’t think of anything bad to say. All I can think about is how excited I am to go back! Food was delicious, onsen was beautiful, and the rooms were spacious and relaxing. Customer service was top notch. Great getaway from busy Tokyo!

Good: The room is well designed with contemporary Japanese style. Suggestion for improvement: power points at bed front is located in a small cabinet box which is not usable for bigger adapter. Other PowerPoints are not conveniently located

Wonderful 1 night stay at the Ten-Yu. Both onsen facilities were beautiful and unique - amazing outdoor bathing experiences. Large well appointed rooms (even the standard room) with private balcony with bath. We enjoyed our forest/garden room with a view of beautiful fall foliage and sounds of a flowing river. Free wine, tea, and ice cream available in the lobby. Loved wearing our yakatas around the property. Breakfast was outstanding

The resort is new, clean, tidy, service great, food is good, freebies of icecream, welcome drinks, onsen environment is good. The only comment is it's a bit far from the station though it provides a shuttle every half an hour back and forth. After all, it's facilities are good.

Excellent facilities. Friendly and helpful staff that speak English. The breakfast buffet is nice, and there is a free shuttle service between the property and Gora station for easy access to the ropeway. I recommend bathing as several times a day each day of your stay, since the public onsen swap for men and women every day.

We had a very nice stay in Hakone and at Ten-Yu. We had 2 nights at Ten-Yu and every aspect of our stay lived up to our expectations. There is a shuttle from the Gora station which we used to check in. To get around Hakone, we used our Hakone free pass and there are bus stations located conveniently around Ten-Yu. The meals were great and they style wasn't traditional which may be better for foreign tourists. We loved the breakfast buffet and it's offerings are amazing for a breakfast!

Best Onsen experience ever: the hotel has Onsens on two levels. Men and women alter which ones they use daily. On each level there’s an outdoor onsen, one faces the mountains, the other faces a 50-foot waterfall. My room also has a private one one the balcony.

The service of this hotel and the amenities provided were great. Every employee that we came across was very friendly and willing to offer assistance if needed. We had the abalone and lobster set meal in our booking, and we had booked to stay 2 nights. On our first night, we were very wowed by the presentation of our dinner and super impressed. On our 2nd night, we were less impressed as it seemed to have less effort and thought put into it. I was also able to check out the public women's bath on both floors (the hotel switches the gender's access each day so that everyone can try out both open air baths). The one on the 5th floor (IIRC) was amazing. It overlooked the green mountains and was very private. I only wish I was able to take a picture of the spectacular view. We purposely chose this accommodation for its private onsen experience that it provides in the balcony of our own bedroom, as well as the modern/traditional Japanese vibe it offered. We also enjoyed that there was essentially an AYCE ice cream machine available (from their vending machines). All you had to do was ask the front desk for a coin (or more if you wish). There was also a nice small garden to walk around in, and at the lobby was a feet soaking tub to sit and enjoy the view while drinking a refreshing tea or hot coffee. For our first private onsen experience, this was great. Would recommend!
