đź‘ŤWe were greeted by a lovely receptionist, the room had everything we needed plus extra like microwave and fridge. We were offered the option of food, able to go to the lounge/bar area to watch a film or take a DVD. Bonus of a free ticket for our son for the theme park as it was closed being out of season.
đź‘ŽOnly surface cleaned, black scum around the plug and taps and spider webs. The thermostat in the room was set at 19 degrees and because we arrived bang on check in time the room hadn't be pre warmed. High up in the Peaks in February we were cold. The heaters are locked and controlled by the reception. I went to reception and asked if we could have it set for warmer and she was very accommodating and said it was reset. We went out to get food and on return it was warm. I then had a bath. Later my son wanted a bath but no hot water but an emersion type heater you had to press to boost it. We had been told about this but I never thought in a hotel this would happen after one bath especially in a room that sleeps 5. Basically it would need to heat for an hour between baths so went to bed. When we woke up at 8.30am the heater was cold and was set at 15 degrees. I tried to ring the reception 4 times through the website as no room phone but no pick up. In the end we just got dressed and left. There was hot water but to cold for a bath.
At 110 pounds a night I did not expect to be controlled on baths, room temperature or be cold. For this reson I wouldn't recommend.

We stayed in willows .The room was compact but was perfect for an overnight stay. Everything was clean and new, the grandkids loved every minute. We went to Derwent gardens for the illuminations and couldn’t have picked a better place to stay.

The room I originally got given was not cleaned. The gentlemen didn’t know what to say , I was moved to another cabin , however the lamp was ready to be binned. It was very cold inside. Very small and not enough lamps for the desk underneath. I appreciate it was kids and family. But what do you have to accommodate business? The pics below are what I turned up to. I wasn’t happy , I checked out but I couldn’t explain my problems as it was very busy on Saturday morning. I would like to be compensated as it was a disaster.

The hotel staff were friendly but the accomodation is in serious need of updating and cleaning, we had little bugs in the fridge and the carpet was absolutely disgusting, a carpet cleaner would help if it cannot be replaced. the place is fab for matlock bath and we had a good day in the park but having a separate access for the park would be good as you have to walk up or down to access the park but wouldnt stay in the accomodation again.

When picking up my room key the manager said id underpaid for my room so charged me an extra ÂŁ16.75 which I duly paid. Having them checked my bank in the morning I could see Id clearly paid the corrext amount. I went to ask for a refund and they said they couldn't at 8am as no manager was on the premises..

Rooms are housed in converted shipping containers- but were well equipped, clean and comfortable. Bunk beds were a big hit with our children (6&9), being right next to the park was a huge bonus for us. Though not really our “thing” the entertainment for the children in the evening was actually really good fun, followed by toasting marshmallows round a fire pit. Then a visit from “Gully” the park mascot in the morning also brought some smiles. Staff were all friendly and helpful- with a big dose of common sense. At breakfast one small child was quite upset by the arrival of a 6ft tall mouse, Gully’s helper very sensibly moved Gully out of the room to the hallway, and came back to see the child in question to make sure they were ok. Top marks. On the negative, the sink in the en-suite is on top of the toilet cistern to save space, but tricky to brush you teeth for smaller people, and although the dinner we had was good, served quickly and reasonably priced, it would be greatly to have a bit more variety out side of burgers/veg burgers, nuggets and fries. Overall recommend.

We booked a night stay on the way home from a short break and it seemed like a fun option. The theme was nice, my eldest is a huge Harry Potter fan so loved the Wizard Theme, the view was amazing, good showers and the bed was comfortable. The only real downsides was the temperature, no air con, no fan and although we had a balcony and the option to leave wide open, this was not an option as the minute we did all sorts of bugs found there way in (one of the draw backs to all the beautiful foliage Matlock Bath is famous for) and the breakfast option was a little confusing and not really worth the £25 we paid for it (£2 for a bowl of cereal?) but overall it’s a fun place, if I was looking for a place to stay outside the summer months this would definitely be up for consideration

Not have hot water for bathing, and the front desk off at 21:00, nobody can help.
Horrible experience.

Great place and very reasonable in price for a family of 5

It was great family stay, friendly and helpful stuff .

Shower had hairs in it, mould on windows and all around the bathroom, and the room smelled damp.

Gulliver's resort is a theme park. It was closed for the winter, but the accommodation is good. We had a room that could be used for self catering and would be big enough for a family.

Beds were uncomfortable. Apart from that brilliant

Great place, lovely views over Matlock Bath.
Spotlessly clean

The Park is always good fun, quite traditional and great for younger kids.
The accommodation was great, very clean and very comfortable. The big win was the kids evening entertainer. If the hotel is reading this, then you need to keep him. He is all my kids have talked about. He was on duty on Wed PM 26 Oct. we all agreed, the best entertainment we have ever seen and the kids and parents there had a whale of a time.
The only bit to improve was the food standards, it was pretty average but then we weren't paying high end rates so it was fair enough.
We will definitelybe ging to stay again.

The park was closed but the cabins were available which meant a quiet night. I suspect it may not be so nice when the park is busy with children. Easy walk to pubs and shops (a bit steep on the way back!).
Very small cabin with double bed and bunks. Just enough room for two people but not too bad at the price or if you have been to Japan. Having a small wash basin behind the toilet makes cleaning teeth interesting but shower was fine for a small person.
Good value for one night, friendly staff.

My stay was 'ok'.
Easy to find. Friendly staff. Easy check in..
However.. the 'cabin' was a metal storage container which had been turned into a room. First impression was the overpowering smell of air fresheners, I had to unplug one and leave the door open to let it dissipate. Once that had died down, the smell it's covering was odd. Vaguely like cat wee..just odd.
The room was lovely and clean though and nicely decorated.
I had to ask for milk pots. No TV remote. No WiFi and it being a metal box meant no data signal.
I was given room 30, which has a metal staircase running alongside, so I felt every step of every other resident of the 5 or so other 'cabins'.
There's a reason this is the cheapest in the area.

Very welcoming staff, a dream for children.

Basic for adults. Lots for kids. Limited breakfast options

Great fun room. The kids enjoyed it although a bit more space would have been nice but okay for one night.

The view was amazing and very tranquil and peaceful. The balcony was very spacious and the valley view was breathtaking.
However the children's room was a little bit damp and the beds were slightly wet!
The overall experience was so unique and the location is perfect for a getaway even if the theme park is closed. We got a family room for 5 at a snip too! Very enjoyable even with the slight issue with the children's beds

Stayed in the Wizard room. Lovely room, nice and clean and the kids loved the separate bunk beds section. Staff were very welcoming and I thought the evening entertainment for adults and kids was a really nice touch. Would definitely stayed there again.

We stayed in the pirate retreat room and it was super.
The room was plenty spacious for 2 adults and 2 older children, 10 & 13.
It has a triple bunkbed in a separate room to our double bed.
Every part of the room was decorated in theme and we all loved it. The park was quiet (we went in December) and clean. Staff were very helpful and polite.
Matlock is a stunning place to stay, we only found this accommodation by chance and thought we would give it a chance, so glad we did!
I would definitely go again while the park is closed or open. Excellent, can't wait to go again.
Inc, x2 tv's, microwave, mini fridge, utensils onsite pizza restaurant who deliver to your door, free parking, wifi, toiletries etc.
2.5
Fabulous warm welcome. Staff were incredible and couldn’t do enough for us. The accommodation was very comfortable with everything you’d need for a family. Stunning views. Would definitely go back.

Great stay. Staff were more than accommodating.

Paid a lot of money to spend the night in a shipping container. It was very tight for space and nothing like the pictures on my booking with hotels.Com. the breakfast on site was a sausage and hash brown cob. Went as a treat for my 3 year old son but wasn't worth the money at all. The character visit kast about 5 minutes and many missed out by not being there on time. Only 3 sachets of coffee with paper cups. Overall complete waste of time and money
2.5
Stayed in one of the Pirate rooms, excellent attention to detail and well equipped room. Very quiet in the evening and only a short walk to restaurants etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful

Lovely room. Daughter thought it was great and she can't wait to stay again.

Room was nice but small we had a travel cot in there and it was a tight fit, probably better for older kids.

Fairytale property. Lovely views. Would be a great place to bring kids. But we enjoyed it without kids.

Would definitely recommend staying here. We went with 3 grandchildren of varying ages & they all loved it. Thats not easy these days. Went round Matlock itself & up the Heights of Abraham. Quite an exhilarating experience for all

It as a fantastic hotel for a great price

The pirate cabin looks fantastic just really let down by the cleanliness. Stains on bedding and pillows, dirty carpet and foisty smelling room. Really needs a good deep clean then would be perfect. Must add on a more positive note that all staff were lovely.

On arriving, accomodation wasn’t signposted so confusing to find and something to look into.
Comfortable beds, great layout, very clean as area we were in didn’t seem very old and obviously our daughter loved the theme park side of it, even tho we didn’t go into it. Would recommend to families but on booking, clarify which room theme you booked as ours was different to photos and other options available.

Should be a properly cooked breakfast available each morning the sink in the rooms need to be made larger I had tea making facilities but no cups

Lovely pirate cabin - very well fitted out with some great finishing touches.

Apartment lovely and clean. View not quite as expected as tree in front of balcony but could see some of the countryside.

The rooms were lovely. Great decor and great themes for the kids. My 7 year old boy loved it. We stayed in the pirates retreat and although it is a walk up hill unless you take the car out it was a really nice stay.
The only thing they are missing is a bar or somewhere to go in the evening. However they did have entertainment for the kids in the evening.
Would reccomended staying here.
