Casa Cocdrilo is everything it is describes as, and more. Classic and historic architecture in the main house, new and lavish casitas out back, separated by a jungle-like garden full of birds and greenery, and a wonderful cooling pool! But the real difference here is the host and management team: kind, thoughtful, responsive, and always putting our group's welfare ahead of their own concerns or time requirements. Host Cecilia was always in touch to make sure we had what we needed and always went beyond when responding to our needs. And the management team was active, quick, and very clear in their communications. All of this combined made our stay wonderful, and allowed us to relax and enjoy our time in Merida. We look forward to returning to Casa Cocodrilo at our earliest opportunity!

Our family of four (2 young adults and 2 parents) stayed at Casa Cocodrillo for 7 nights. Our two daughters stayed in one of the back bedrooms (has two beds), through the idyllic courtyard. We were all so comfortable, and having the patio and pool was amazing, as the temps were 95-100F every day! The fans were perfect for cooling during the day, and we used AC at night. We found two amazing places within a few blocks: Maria y Montejo for coffee and bfast/lunch, and Ramiro for dinner. The kitchen was great, although we never actually cooked, but it is equipped with all the basics.

Cocodrilo is grand and works beautifully for families. The scale of the rooms is hard to capture in photographs, but the high ceilings native to the area lend the home a palatial feel. They are also key to keeping rooms cool. Though each bedroom and the dining room have AC, we were mostly able to keep cool with the abundant ceiling fans which, due to the architecture, kept the rooms comfortable during the month we visited. The pool is essential in the heat, and the kids enjoyed it. Not large, nor tiny, it was great for jumping into and cooling off. The kitchen and sleeping areas have all you need to maintain yourselves in comfort. Appliances worked well, and beds & bedding were very comfortable & of high quality. We were a family of 4 and left the bedroom in the main house unoccupied, preferring the back casitas. We also never made use of the office in the yard, but it's a marvelous room with modern finishings & computer desk, along with gorgeous stone detailing. Everything has been gorgeously remodeled with the historicity intact. Tiles are beautiful throughout and the concrete is smooth. The LOCATION is fabulous. Locals taught us we could stand directly in front of Cocodrilo and flag buses. We twice took a city bus to Progreso Beach, for a little over $1 USD per person, each way. A magnificent bargain and amazing side trip! Walking to Paseo de Montejo takes 2 minutes, and down to the Grande Plaza takes around 20, or longer if you stop in each park along the way, which you will. The bull ring is very close, too! There is no end to restaurants close by, and Walmart is very close and an easy walk for groceries & staples to last your entire stay, like Sunscreen! I was impressed with Walmart's bakery selection, which was way more varied than any in the U.S. & included local Mexican style buns, breads, cookies, and little cakes. They were great! The WIFI worked very well for all of us, with a router in the back casita, a router in the office, and a router in the main house. Smart TVs had all apps. The management company is local, helpful, and quickly responsive. They recommended a private driver for us to visit some cenotes, and we loved him! His rate was a bargain and it was a relief not to have to rent a car and negotiate the horrendous traffic. Their suggestions, and the owners', were always spot on! Be sure to bring or buy your favorite bug repellent, as the tiny, biting no-see-ems are thriving in the climate. Bottom line: Rent it!

This casa is even more beatuiful than the pictures show. High ceilings, classic architecture, beautifully designed, lush courtyard and well equipped kitchen. Walking distance to lots of great restaurants and shopping. Three comfortable and very private bedrooms. Would definitely stay here again if we return to Merida.

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, historic home. It was tastefully furnished and well-equipped. The garden and pool were especially nice. Despite the warm climate, we didn't need air conditioning as the the high ceilings and ceiling fans made the house very comfortable. We had a few minor issues and the host responded immediately and rectified the problem. The house is a 20-25 minute walk to the zocalo.
