The location was great and this was my major request. It was on the top of the hill where all historic places are. Breakfast was decent, with fresh canolis baked every morning. Beds were comfortable.
After checking in to the room I discovered that it did not have a balcony, contrary to the room description. The front desk person got in a bitter argument with me, that if I wanted to have a balcony I had to request it. I tried to combat that statement with an obvious: why would I place a request for something which is part of a room description? It would be the same as to place a request for the clean towels or toilet paper. On the top of the ruined mood, I was told that if I don't like the room I can just return my key and look for another hotel, and I have to do it right now. Needless to say my arrival mood to Malta was ruined. Luckily, later I realized that having a balcony would take some portion of light penetrating to the room, however, those thoughts were just part of a process of how to reconcile the reality with expectations, I should not have gone through this kind of search for self-reassurement. So, just because all their room descriptions include a balcony, it does not guarantee you will have one. Honestly, it would not matter so much to me if the balconies were not such a big deal for Valetta, being almost a signature attribute of the city center historic buildings.

Bars and restaurants directly below our accommodation trading till all hours in the morning did not allow you to sleep much at all. The noise was overwhelming

A value for money hotel with good facilities and very good breakfast.
Location is ideal for city centre and ferries.
Rooms slightly small and no pool - roof top terrace nice to sit after dark but you have to bring your own drinks from the downstairs bar

Good location. Good size room and bathroom. Shower was good. Staff were generally helpful. Breakfast was extensive when available.
Unable to cool down the room unless we opened a window and then it was very noisy. Building air con was set to heat rather than cool. Although the breakfast was advertised as running until 10am, on one day there was hardly anything left at 9.20 and everything had been cleared away by 9.35. The hotel is at the bottom of a large hill but that is typical of Valletta as a resort.
