Very pleasant two days - New Year's Eve and New Year's day.

Breakfast was good and the breakfast location was really pleasant. Host was super friendly, interesting and helpful, and very knowledgeable about the area. Really interesting, creative touches throughout

We stayed for two nights and there was no offer to service the room. The common area/lounge was a bit dark and uninviting. These were minor issues - everything else was fine.

Lovely stay, memorable food. We’ll be back!

That it is right next door to the Owl House, and really close to all the other attractions. Barbara is an excellent hostess and a chef of note. Stirlings@The Ibis Lounge exceeded our expectations. The Karoo Food Experience was unforgettable: everything prepared with imagination and care. The swimming pool was a bonus.

Quaint and comfortable accommodation

Enjoyable stay at The Ibis in Bethesda.

The reception from Barbara was so good, from the communication the day before arrival, the detour route to be taken (tar road to be fixed soon), as well as the reception at the establishment. It is an old house (like all houses in Bethesda) and the wooden creaky floor was another experience! The room was comfortable, with two 3/4 beds with good clean linen and towels. Coffee making facilities are available, with a small fridge with fresh milk inside. The bathroom is en-suite, with a big shower with ample warm water. We had a very good nights rest. We had our evening meal with Barbara and Johan at their restaurant "Stirlings", and the chops and wine were good! (paid from my pocket) Breakfast (included) the next morning was served warm, and went down well. We walked the whole village, and visited all the various available tourism places. Even the cemetery - interesting for my history mind.

I would have appreciated a small table, where I could have put my phone, camera, reading glasses, and my wife her make-up and stuff. I was apprehensive of my car staying outside in the street, but the village is so quiet, and there was no need to worry. All in all a nice stay.

Absolutely everything was perfect. We were actually blown away by this jewel in Nieu Bethesda. On a par with any five star establishment. We had dinner in the Restaurant and it was superb. Five star tasting menu with wine pairing to perfection

Very interesting town worth visiting.

The location was perfect. Great coffee and good atmosphere.

The African masks everywhere were out of place and made us feel uncomfortable.

The combination of the excellent accommodation and superb food makes the detour worth your while.

What a gem in the middle of the Karoo! We opted to eat at Stirlings, the on-site restaurant and what a revelation. Barbara, our host and chef, should have a much wider audience for her culinary skills. We had the six/seven course Karoo experience dinner with a wine pairing and what an experience it was! The rooms are big and welcoming, a comfortable bed and white linen. The visit was well worth the detour from the N9 and New Bethesda and The Ibis Lounge should be on anyone's bucket list.

Peaceful oasis in the karoo

Nieu Bethesda is a wonderful little town and well worth visiting. Ibis Lounge was a bonus. It is full of character with wooden floors. There is a pool if the weather is hot. Barbara is amazing and a very attentive and helpful host. Breakfast and coffee were delicious. We also ate at their on site restaurant "Stirlings". The food was exceptional and good value for money. We went to the fossil museum and that was well worth it - very interesting

Everything was perfect! Really nice house and you can see it was decorated with love. Very comfy beds, excellent breakfast and a super nice host.

Superb

Barbara was really helpful before and during our visit. Lovely breakfast with homemade plum jam and fresh sourdough breakfast. What a treat in this beautiful village with the Owl House, a brilliant bookshop and community museum and restaurant. We'll be back!
