I was scheduled to arrive very late - around 9.30 at night. My host communicated regularly with me. They made sure I knew where I was going, even though I would be arriving at night. My room was prepared and ready for me. Lights were left on, so I could easily move my "things" inside.
The local border collie greeted me on arrival and made sure I got settled in well.
Everything was clean and comfortable.
I arrived too late to enjoy or experience the farm at it's best.
It was very cold in the unit. Even though there were electric blankets, it was impossible to heat the room or bathroom. The Wi-Fi was either very slow or didn't work. I tried connecting to sites I never have trouble connecting to, like Amazon Prime. I could never go online and do what I needed to do - it seemed to time out. WhatsApp messages appear to go through, but doing anything on Instagram didn't work. It didnt matter too much being a Friday night, but if I needed to work, I would haven been in trouble. I had a one-bar 3G mobile signal, which was no better for connecting to the Internet.

Affordable, clean, comfortable, pet-friendly accommodation on peaceful farm with friendly hosts (including resident dogs), well-positioned for trip from coast to Gauteng. Farm pool for a quick dip after a long drive.

We loved our stay at Witkrans. The hosts were amazing and our kids loved being on the farm. We bought Braai packs for dinner from our hosts and it was the BEST meat ever, including salad. Thanks for a great overnight on our long journey, we will come visit again. Great value for money.
