I recently stayed at Evergreen Manor Spa Guest Lodge in Stellenbosch and had a thoroughly positive experience that I would confidently recommend, particularly for parents visiting student children at the university.
The location was ideal for our purposes. It is situated in the historic core of Stellenbosch, within easy walking distance of the university area and student hostels. This made it simple and convenient for me to stay close to my daughter without the need for constant driving or long transfers. The peaceful residential setting still offers quick access to the town centre, restaurants, botanical gardens, and other amenities, striking a good balance between quiet and convenience.
We stayed in a family unit with two separate rooms. This arrangement worked exceptionally well for a father and student daughter. It provided the privacy my daughter values while still allowing us to share the stay comfortably. The rooms themselves reflected the property’s character - a 1904 Victorian-style manor with period furnishings, high ceilings, and a sense of old-world charm combined with modern necessities such as air-conditioning, en-suite facilities, and the expected comforts. The space felt clean, well-maintained, and welcoming.
Clayton at reception deserves special mention. He was consistently friendly, professional, and clear in his explanations of the facilities, house rules, and local information. His approach set a positive tone from the moment of arrival and made the check-in process smooth and reassuring. Attentive and helpful without being intrusive, and genuinely invested in making visitors feel at home.
Breakfast was enjoyable and well-presented, the grounds and pool area offered a pleasant place to relax, and the overall atmosphere of the guest house felt calm and well-run.
