The property is a little piece of paradise that we felt lucky to share for a few nights. The guided night walk was amazing, the food and eating on the elevated dining area was fantastic - as well as spotting sloths and birds as we ate. The kayaks stored in their little wooden cabin near the waterfront were enjoyed by my daughter. Pierre and Manon genuinely care about their guests as demonstrated through their care and attention not just when things are going well but also when challenges arise. They assisted me after an accident and gave up their time to ensure I was taken to where I received the proper medical attention. It’s times like these you realise it’s not just about where you are staying but who are your hosts and how they treat their guests.

The sea bungalows are magnificent, the other rooms as noted by others are a bit dated and priced accordingly. We did feel a little hot on our first day in our triple room and night but were able to ask for a floor fan as well.

It’s an eco-lodge, so no AC. Totally fine. Along with the ceiling fan in the room, some stand-up fans by the beds would’ve made more comfortable sleeping in the heat— but understandable due to only solar and eco-friendly standards. So not really a dislike, rather a small detail that would’ve kept sleeping a little more comfortable during the hotter temps at night.

Stepping onto Ataraxia’s own jetty after a crossing by ferry and water taxi had already made the journey feel special, but when we’d checked into our cabin, and I sat in the hammock on the deck looking over the water, I felt that this was a special place - and it really was! Meals in the restaurant were the reward for climbing even more steps - breakfast was different every day but always included fresh pineapple and papaya. Even though we were only a few minutes’ kayak ride from Old Bank (kayaks can be borrowed from Ataraxia’s boathouse, and we did go for a cocktail) we ended up eating dinner at Ataraxia every night of three. I had a great massage one morning, but the absolute highlight for my husband and I was the nighttime nature walk, exploring Ataraxia’s vast jungle hectares by torchlight. There are a lot of steps, so you will get to breakfast slightly out of breath…

- Manon and Pierre were wonderful hosts and very helpful - The night walk on the grounds of Ataraxia was one of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip - The breakfast and dinner area: casually spotting frogs, monkeys, sloths during breakfast or dinner was amazing. - the amazing grounds, with mangroves, a palm tree areas with massive crabs and a jungled hill. - a week wasn’t enough 😃

- It’s probably not for everyone - being off-grid, and clean, but basic. We loved it exactly for that though. - great that snorkelling gear, canoes / sups can be used freely, however would pay off to manage the canoe/sups/paddle inventory more closely. Too much broken / leaky equipment…
