Please Beware This Property: My Worst London Stay
The only positive thing I can say about this property is that it was in our desired location. It is a good size for a family, unfortunately the property itself was in very poor condition and felt unsafe.
I have never had to write such a negative review, but I think it is very important for people to understand the reality of this property. While it has good proportions for a family of 4, when we arrived it was very apparent the front door lock was broken. There was no dead bolt. A hard shove would have opened it, which I brought to the attention of the management company immediately. Unfortunately this was never fixed.
Not only did the property feel unsafe, but the facilities were simply not inline with the very high price. The toilet barely flushed. The windows did not close property and the very old single pieces of glass made it that YOU HEAR EVERYTHING from the street to people coming in and out of the building (the entrance is right below you), to people walking above you to people fighting in the apartment next door. I didn't sleep for the entire time I was there.
On top of this, the blinds across the property do not prevent the light from coming in, which is quite a problem in the UK when the sun begins to rise around 3am.
I have lived in Notting Hill for 6 years and wanted our family to stay in our area to be able to meet up with friends now that we live in the UK. Across this year I have stayed in 4 other Notting Hill properties that were exponentially better than this one and also cheaper, I was shocked this level property was being sold at this price. I understand supply and demand of summer prices, but I would never have booked this property if the reviews more actually matched the reality. For instance, there is a guestbook in the property filed will equally angry guests. I took pictures and submitted them to Altido.
Altido refunded me 10% of my booking. A nice gesture but not nearly enough for such a poor property. I really hope this review helps other families make a better decision or inspires the market to dictate a much more realistic price (I would suggest half) for those who understand exactly what they are getting themselves into.
