ITH San Diego Mission Beach Backpacker Hostel

Genuinely one of the loveliest places I've ever stayed! I was visiting San Diego solo for a scientific conference and couldn't have found a better place. As a solo female traveler, I particularly appreciated the balance of safety, comfort, and privacy (the curtains in shared rooms are a great touch!) with such a wonderfully welcoming, social atmosphere. The little things make this place special: shared breakfasts with fellow travellers, a cozy communal living room, fun evening events, and a WhatsApp group for spontaneous plans. Meeting people feels effortless, yet there's absolutely no pressure to socialize when you'd rather enjoy some peace and quiet. It's rare to find a hostel equally suited to a work trip and a sociable holiday, but this place gets both just right. I loved it so much I extended my booking several times! An absolute gem I couldn't recommend more highly.

Cozy vibe and location

Everything was just excellent. Too good to be a “Hostel”.

Maybe the showers were little too small? It wasn’t a problem at all.

The location is GREAT right at the beach, roller coaster across the street, great food options and close to public transportation. The host Reuben is wonderful, he really goes above and beyond to make sure guests are happy and taken care of. The social aspect of this hostel is off the charts, activities everynight and actual community. It just feels good here : ) AND THERE'S LAUNDRY!!

I wish there was a bigger outside area but the hostel cannot really do anything about that its a vertical building.
