About this farm stay rental
Birthplace of the author of The Star-Spangled Banner, Keymar, MD was home to Francis Scott Key. This original General Store (now our Guesthouse), on old Key property that was built in the late 1800s, has been impeccably remodeled to allow you every comfort while being centrally located to historic Gettysburg, PA, Frederick, MD, the beautiful Catoctin Mountains, Mount Saint Mary’s University, Liberty Mountain Ski Resort, and so much more. Settle into history.

The place was phenomenal, far exceeding our expectations. The hosts are very responsive to any questions we had. It was such a cozy place.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at The General Store. Its history and character is definitely unique. We found the furniture to be comfortable and the place cozy to relax for the weekend. The little pellet stove kept the winter chill out. The location is approximately 25-30 minutes from restaurants, wineries, shopping, etc so you need to plan accordingly for driving. We enjoyed the scenic roads as we explored the area. The kitchen was also well-equipped. Prior to booking, the owners promptly answered our questions. However, the day of our arrival we still had not received the check in code and instructions by the time we arrived. The owners forgot about our reservation and did not have the place completely ready for us. It was a little awkward for us being there while the owner finished cleaning and making the beds. The rest of our stay went on without incident. We do recommend The General Store as a quaint place to stay. However, we highly suggest contacting the owners the day before your arrival to confirm your reservation.
