Property very clean, exactly as shown on booking site. Nice private outdoor space. Good location with easy access to downtown Redwood City via car or walking. Parking right in front of property and nice safe neighborhood. Public transit train right beside property which can be heard loudly when running by but did not bother me. Does not run all night. Just commuter hours. Ear plugs were provided in case it was bothersome. Property manager was very professional with great communication.

We booked Stephan's home for a 3 day stay because of medical appointments at Stanford Hospital which is a convenient 5 miles away. We brought our 2 small dogs and had paid the $100 cleaning deposit, of course, that was reasonable and expected that the yard would be free of dog poop when we got there. Apparently, people, after paying a fee, don't bother to clean up after their dogs. The landscaped rose garden area was filled with dog poop from previous guest pets. We cleaned most of it up, including our own dogs' poop. The house was clean and comfortable, but the noise from the trains went all night, (fewer after 10pm) with train whistles blaring right as they pass the house. Stephan supplies earplugs but the train noise should be a caveat to folks expecting a quiet stay. The can opener and Keurig coffee machine were broken, but we notified Stephan and he replaced them quickly with lesser but adequate models. All in all the home met our needs; but I feel like if the cleaners are charging $100 for pets, then they need to be the ones making sure the yard is free of dog poop after each guest leaves and before the next guests arrive. I feel like after cleaning up bags of poop, I should probably get my $100 refunded. ;0

This unit has been completely remodeled, so it is super clean and appealing. It is across from Caltrain (tracks), so if you are "sound sensitive" it may not be for you. For me, I adjusted to after the 1st night. Stephan is super responsive and the bonus is that there is a wonderful private patio for you to enjoy.

I cannot review anything about the property because we didn't get to stay there (I gave one star because I was required to rate each topic). On THE MORNING of our check-in we received an email through VRBO that our reservation had been CANCELLED because the property was double booked. Stephan sent a message explaining that one night of our stay was double-booked so the entire reservation had to be cancelled. Someone else had booked on another platform before us and Stephan did NOT check our reservation for any conflicts UNTIL THE DAY WE WERE TO ARRIVE. That is inexcusable. He had two weeks to verify our reservation dates but did not. We had other communications with him and he was responsive but yet unable to see fit to make sure that our reservation dates were good before we arrived in California. Imagine how we felt to land at the airport that morning, look at our phone and see a message that our reservation was cancelled and we had no where to stay! It was TERRIBLE! We were issued a full refund. Stephan also sent an apology message but that did nothing to make us feel better about the entire experience. I DO NOT recommend Stephan as a host at all. He has this property listed on multiple platforms and apparently doesn't check to make sure that all is well with each reservation in a timely manner. Rent with him at your own risk!
