Worst VRBO experience we've ever had. My husband and I along with 2 sons (4 of us total) were flying in for daughter's college grad. Had to email the owner 6 days before check-in because we hadn't received ANY communication about the rental. Upon reading the info, it said additional visitors need to be confirmed (they have Ring cameras and see who comes and goes), so I emailed to tell them my daughter and her two roommates would be over for dinner. (The property description lists max 7 occupants, so I assumed we were fine and just wanted to give the ol' Ring a heads up.) As soon as I sent the email, I got an invoice for $30 per person, per day or $270! I straightened it out with the property manager who was very nice and said they were just getting this property up and running so there were a few things to work out...? Once there, my son got locked in one of the bedrooms bc the lock on the door was broken on the inside and my other son slept in a room where the corner of the bed was broken, so the mattress was on an uncomfortable tilt. The unit was very clean-- smelled like bleach when we arrived-- but there was quite a bit of deferred maintenance. It's located in a nice neighborhood with a very nice backyard, but I wouldn't stay here or work with this owner again.

The place was ok and served our purpose. My mother had mobility issues and the front step was very high and staircase was severe for her. Its located midway on a hill that is quite steep. Also no groundfloor bathroom. Had she not been with us, it wouldnt be an issue. There was a trash issue that we tried to communicate several times and was not cleaned. Raccoons got at it. House was clean but sad to see outside not kept as could be a pleasant place to have a coffee. The patio is unkept and furniture needs to be thrown out. Cooking wasnt easy with old saucepan. No toaster so had to use broiler. If we didnt have car, you would be lost here. As said, served our needs but needs a little tlc to make it an amazing place.

My friends and I booked this VRBO while staying in town for a wedding. We originally put on our reservation that there would be 6 of us staying there. We saw in his notes that he had security cameras on the property but didn’t think much of it. After the wedding, we ended up with two extra guests sleeping over. In his check in message he states that all guests need to be listed on the reservation and that if extra people stay he will charge extra. We believe the host was watching us on the cameras regularly and for prolonged periods of time since we were all coming in and out of the house at different times. He charged us for the two extra people after our stay concluded. Additionally, the bedroom doors lock from the outside unexpectedly - many of us had to call others in the house to come let us out of our rooms. Although the location was convenient for our wedding, most of us felt uncomfortable and watched during our stay. Overall, I would not recommend.

Would not recommend. House was missing quite a few of the listed components plus additional amenities that are usually provided when a “stocked kitchen” is listed. Immediately upon arrival, I brought to the owners attention and was told they were sorry- items must have been taken from previous guest and I could purchase them at the local shop rite. Items listed on site but not provided: coffee maker, clothes dryer, shampoo, no kids dishes (unless they mean the few opened paper bowls I saw- no kids plates, cups, utensils. I didn’t need them, but they weren’t there) Items usually found in a kitchen, but not this one: pots & pans (there was one 1 at pot, 1 skillet, 1 wok, no lids) no spices, nothing for the oven- sheet pans or casserole dishes, no can opener, cork screw, bottle opener, cutting board, strainer, no ladles or large spoons, steak knives, measuring cups, or kitchen towels. There was only salt, one plastic and one Reynolds’s wrap package. There was no welcome letter with listed places to go, Wi-Fi password, departure expectations. I did finally get the Wi-Fi but had to ask. No extra blankets, pillows, lamps, or window coverings in “movie room”. Missing trash can in master bathroom. Only way to close bathroom door was to pull door closed with nail. No knobs or handles on any kitchen cabinets. What was most upsetting is I called and emailed upon arrival asking for at least one large a pot to cook with. The entire reason for the visit was to be able to cook for my college son over the weekend who I only see a few weekends a year. I BEGGED for them to remedy this as soon as we arrived. I asked again on Saturday but received no answer. I also asked for the clothes dryer location as my aunt and I were caught in a rainstorm and wanted to dry our clothes but received no answer. Thankfully they have a great neighbor- Maryann and Jerry, who lent us pots and my son brought his coffee pot and rice cooker over for us to use. The meal was salvaged but not because the host lifted a finger. Maryann’s family ate there first beignet and gumbo! Also, there looks to be mold in the stairwell that has not been recently painted. Not a good experience.

Experience with this vintage house was unexpectedly disappointing. The listing was not in alignment with reality as the entire time that I was corresponding with the host, the listing referred to the unit as a three bedroom home. However, upon check-in, the 2nd and 3rd rooms were locked with a keypad and only one was available; the host/property manager called my cell directly and I was told that for the rate that I had they would not be able to open the other two doors. Of course that makes no sense as at no point was the availability or number of rooms contingent upon the rate. I had to call VRBO customer service directly before unloading after a 13-hr drive to complain; VRBO apologized on behalf of the property manager who then came over to unlock the other two doors while still asking me and my guest inappropriately what we’re planning to do in the other two rooms and if they are OK to come by the house to do work in the basement while we were there (which I made clear was a no go). The listing also indicated the presence of a clothes dryer. There was no washer or dryer, and we had to use the community laundromat . The property manager glibly advised ‘oh that was a mistake’. Doorknobs stick or come off in your hands, the heater is noisy, the shower rod in the hallway bath fell, the toilet in the master was threatening to overflow & there was food in the fridge from a previous person dated from last year 11/2022. There was no garbage bin provided in the master bathroom and some tiles on the master shower floor are missing. Then, upon checking out, I received a text message accusing us of damaging the already flimsy window blinds. The main positives of this house relate to the location. It is ideally located especially if you want to be able to get to the supermarket, gas station, movie theatre, nail salon etc in under five minutes (driving time). The bus stop is nearby (bus doesn’t run that frequently though so check the schedule) & takes you to a main train station with direct trains to New York. You can also drive and park (under 10min driving time) at the local train station and get a direct train to New York Penn Station. There were ample linens available and all were very clean. The house has a lovely TV room with a lot of windows which lets the light in and you have a view of the surrounding foliage. It’s the spot to see the lights of the New York City skyline at night. Self-check-in was simple and it’s a quiet street. One & done.
