The hostel is really well located, it is less than 10 minutes walk from the CBD. The kitchen and rooms are very clean. There are many activities that allow you to meet a lot of people easily!

The location is good ... near St James station, near nat. art gallery. The breakfast was as one would expect ... I was happy with my toast and tea.

I would've appreciated a rowel being offered free.

The location was perfect, and the historic building itself is very beautiful. The receptionist who greeted us at check-in was very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and our room was spotless. Considering these positive aspects of our trip, this was good value for money for a private room in a hostel.

The mobile phone app which we used as a key for accessing our room was not as efficient as we hoped it would be - whenever one of us left the room, the other guest needed to remain in the room to allow the other back inside because on numerous occasions the door would not open for us, unsure if this was a problem with our room's door being faulty or if it was an issue with the app. I do not usually leave negative reviews but this was such a breach of security and safety that I felt compelled to include this in my review to alert other guests who are considering booking a stay here. Firstly, it would be helpful to provide a 'Do not disturb' sign for your door for those mornings where you do not need/require housekeeping services, and to ensure privacy for your guests who book a private room for their own comfort and privacy. We booked a 2 night stay, and on our first morning a staff member knocked on the door, shouted 'housekeeping' and abruptly opened it while I was standing undressed in front of the mirror. There was no pause between knocking and opening the door. To say I was highly embarrassed and shocked is an understatement - if I had been staying in this room as a solo female traveller, this would have been even more elevated. To make matters worse, after I made it known that 'I'm naked! And no thank you!', about 1 minute later a SECOND member of staff knocked on the door and tried to open it. I was gobsmacked, this shows a clear lack of communication between staff and no appreciation for guests' security. On the morning of check-out, appreciating that check-out is 10am, it was maybe 10:10am and I was putting on my shoes and my partner was gathering our belongings, when housekeeping staff knocked on the door and yelled 'housekeeping'. I let them know that 'I'm just getting dressed, could you give me 5 minutes please?' and they said 'okay'.
