The owner was very attentive to detail, very helpful and super nice! This little family business is really fantastic, the Mom is an amazing cook, so you are well cared for :)
We also went on a safari trip organized by the owner, and that was the best choice. He didn’t try to sell us the longer and more expensive trip, he said we’ll be fine with the 3hrs one, and he was so right. The driver was great!!! We could see, he would always stop while some others would just drive by, and he showed us even the smallest animals, so he was very attentive and we could say, he knew the Udawalawe National Park like his own pocket. Also they give you some snacks & water since it starts very early in the morning. After we came back to the hotel and had a breakfast there.
The hotel itself was great, super clean, very well maintained. The pool was clean and inviting. Certainly worth the stay. We definitely recommend!! One minor thing, is that’s located far away from shops / restaurants, but you don’t need to worry about it. In case, they’ll be happy to organize something you want/need. And also… the food there is not only very tasty (best rice&curry I’ve had in Sri Lanka), but also very reasonably priced. Certainly don’t hesitate to stay with Amba Kola.

The location was ideal for Udawalawe National Park. The room was nice, the food was delicious and the people were so kind. They went above and beyond in so many unexpected ways. We had a great time!

Absolutely lovely accommodation with the sweetest, most caring owners! Everyone is incredibly friendly and makes sure you feel comfortable and well taken care of. The safari organized through the accommodation was amazing, with so much passion and dedication. You can truly feel the love they put into everything. Highly recommend! We would definitely come back!

Loved our stay at Amba Kola! If you’re into small family run businesses, you will love it here.
We did a very successful safari with them and saw 40+ elephants, lots of birds, a crocodile, monkeys and many lizards. We also did the cooking class which was an excellent experience. All meals we had at Amba Kola were home made and absolutely delicious! Don’t skip the opportunity to eat here, the food was the best we had in our Sri Lanka trip.
The property only has 5 rooms. You will have very personalised experience and as much interaction as you would wish with the hosts. Rooms are air conditioned and the pool is the perfect temperature.
