Wonderful place to stay for our family vacation. We spent four nights here and loved it. Traditional Costa Rican breakfast was prepared fresh each morning and everything was delicious. The cabin is a freestanding building, no shared walls, so it’s very private. Parking was conveniently located right next to the cabin. It’s good to have a car, as the town is a short drive away.
The family who runs the place was so kind and answered all of our questions about particular places to visit, restaurants, etc. They even did our laundry for us for a reasonable price, which was great. Highly recommend Arenal Descanso for anyone seeking a comfortable and clean place to stay in La Fortuna.

A beautifully designed cottage giving the impression of being hidden in the jungle. Fabulous breakfast in an outdoor room next to the river (above so you couldn’t see it) with a bird table to watch birds as you eat. A resident toucan. Lovely staff.
