Nous avons beaucoup aimé le côté typique de la maison au cœur d’un village nubien. L’appartement est au 2e étage (au dessus du logement d’Ali), il possède deux chambres. Il est fonctionnel, d’un confort rustique qui conviendra clairement plus aux routards qu’aux adeptes des grands hôtels.
Belle terrasse privée pour les petits déjeuners ou se détendre avec vue partielle sur le Nil.
Machine à laver fonctionnelle.
Accès au ferry public à 1 minute à pied.
L’île éléphantine est un trésor de calme et d’authenticité. Prendre le temps de se balader sur les chemins de terre entre petites maisons, potagers et champs d’un vert éclatant. Ali est très gentil et attentionné, nous avons fait 2h de felouque avec son cousin au coucher du soleil, c’était top, très zen.
Le ménage de base mériterait d’être mieux fait.

I stayed at Rose's guesthouse. Ali (the host) was very hospitable. He welcomed me with some tea and gave me some.tips about the area.
He cooked a fantastic breakfast, which was delicious and generous in quantity.
I stayed on rhe 3rd floor in a clean and spacious room. I had access to the kitchen, a communal area as well as a terrace with a view over Aswan.
The house is conviniently located about 3min from the public ferry (5 Egyptian pound). Beware as Google.map showed a slightly different location (but Ali is now aware and hopefully will have rectified that). Just turn right after leaving the ferry and go straight. The house is located on the right hand side and has a small sign saying "Rose's Guesthouse". I'm sure if you call Ali, he could pick you up at the ferry.
The island is beautiful, calm and its people are friendly (definitely more laid back and relaxing than the town of Aswan).
This is not a hotel or resort but if you are looking to spend the night in someone's house, in a quiet area, i would highly recommend staying there. It is great value for money and Ali will put a smile on your face.
The only reason I didn't rate my stay higher was that there was a problem with the shower. The pressure was low and one of the taps didn't work properly. Ali is aware and was working on it as I left, so hopefully it will be fixed. Also ask Ali how to use the hot water (especially if you visit in the winter as nights can be chilly.)
