Comfortable Living in Casual 100 yr old Home, 10 min walk to Stonington Village
About this house rental
Located in Stonington, this charming house for $97 per night is a great choice for your next trip. This hundred year old home is a 15 minute stroll over a picturesque footbridge, into the heart of the Village. The house has been divided into two single bedroom units, one upstairs, the other downstairs. I am currently renting the first floor apartment. It has its own entrance through the back door and can accommodate up to four people. The bedroom has a queen size bed and there is a sleeper sofa in the living room. (Please note: Bathroom access for bedroom is through the living room.) The bathroom has a tub with shower. Though there is no dishwasher or laundry service, there is a full kitchen, TV, free WiFi, and access to a spacious yard equipped with table and chairs for outside dining. Window fans and a cross breeze provide ventilation. On street parking. Property owner lives on site in a cottage at the rear of the property. The Village hosts great restaurants and shops, Stonington Lighthouse Museum, Library, playground, La Grua Arts and Cultural Center, and CT’s only commercial fishing fleet. Extensive trails for nature walks nearby. Be sure to visit the Stonington Village Farmer’s Market: Every Sat., 9:00 a.m.-noon from May through the end of Oct. On Nov. 1st the Farmer’s Market moves indoors to the Velvet Mill, 22 Bayview Ave., 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The Velvet Mill is a 10 minute walk and in addition to housing the winter farmer’s market, is a creative community of entrepreneurs & small business, Arts & Crafts, Health & Healing services, artisan bakery, micro brewery, and weekend crafts and vintage market. In Mystic, you will find the Mystic Seaport, the Mystic Aquarium, a YMCA, and plenty of shops and restaurants. Golf courses are 15 minutes away. Rhode Island beaches are just 15-20 minutes away (12 miles). Foxwoods Casino and Factory Store Mall and Mohegan Sun Casino and Performance Center are also approximately 15-20 minutes away. 10 minute drive to Mystic or Westerly Amtrak train stations, as well as I-95.

Dorothy, what a quaint little house you have and thank you for sharing it with us. Perfect location for our families gathering and close to places to see. Dorothy was very easy to communicate with from beginning to end.

Perfect little places for my son and me to rest for the night. Communication to and from Dorothy was excellent. She left detailed instructions which left no question unanswered and Her dinner recommendations were right on! Would definitely stay here again!

The purpose of our visit was to explore the Mystic Seaport Museum. This great old house provided the perfect base camp for us. Convenient, comfortable, quiet and affordable.

I very much enjoyed my stay in this lovely, old house. It has, as the owner states, the quaint patina of a century's worth of living. The wide moldings, the heavy cracked plaster walls, the warm glow of the wooden floors, the latched kitchen cabinets all added to rather than detracted from the visit. I would have loved to have seen the large gardens in all their summer glory, but it was enough to enjoy the fruit tree (persimmons?) and honeysuckle vines while sipping morning coffee on the back porch swing.
It was an easy walk to the Velvet Mill and over the bridge to Stonington borough. A twenty minute drive in either direction brought you to Mystic or the Westerly beaches. I have been coming to this area in early fall for many years, and this tidy charming home's location was ideal for my first solo visit. I hope to return next year to enjoy the pleasures it offers.

The Blue house was in a nice area, walking distance to the village. The kitchen was well equipped although I never cooked because the restaurants in the area were so good.
The property description and pictures are very accurate and I had a lovely stay. The only issue for me was that the bed was a bit firm… but I am a very petite woman and prefer a little softer bed.

Close to Salt Water Vineyard, downtown Stonington and Mystic. Though there isn’t AC there are ceiling fans and standing fans and I slept great. Neighborhood is very quiet. It’s was a perfect place for one. Extremely clean and owner responds quickly to questions.

We had a great time at “The Blue House” as our children called it! We love staying there every year!!! Great location, close to Westerly, Mystic seaport, and Stonington Borough! We highly recommend it! Thanks Dorothy!

We felt comfortable allowing our 5 year old outside alone as this is on a quiet side street with a back yard entrance. Lots of birds, lighthouse horn in distance but we got used to it and we live in the woods. About a 20 minute drive to the ocean but we didn't mind. This VRBO definitely suited our needs.

Perfect Place to explore the town. We had a wedding at Saltwater Farm Vineyard and could not have been happier with our stay.

We spent several days in Stonington and we're happy to find Dorothy's place. It was a quiet respite from the events we attended and it was perfectly located for us. It felt like home for us as we live in an older home also. A great find!

My friend and myself had a great time here on our fishing trip. It was close to town and in the middle of our favorite spots. I recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Stonington and I would definitely book with Dorothy again.

I have to say that this is our second stay with Dorothy and my husband and I are both completely charmed by the house, the garden, the neighborhood, and the host! We have family that we visit in the area and are so pleased to have discovered the "blue house". It's calm, comfortable, clean and reminds us of the home we had when we were first married (and still miss!). Dorothy is the perfect host - kind and welcoming but also allows you privacy. We will be returning to stay many times in the future!

We recently visited Stonington and spent a night at this historic property. We had a pleasent stay overall. The house is just as pictured and was quite spacious enough for the 2 of us. The house is older, as well as the appliances and shower but we had no issues. Dorothy is easy going and advised us on walking around the area. Thank you for sharing your place with us!

My husband and I were looking for a place to stay for a kid-free getaway. This apartment was perfect. The location makes it very easy to access many great areas. The apartment is clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Will definitely stay again next time we are in the area!

This is a 100 year old home that has been divided into a first floor and a second floor apartment. You stay in the first floor. The apartment consists of a bedroom, living room, kitchen and bath room. Walls are plaster, floors are hardwood with throw rugs, kitchen counter top is glazed tile. It is like stepping into a time machine that is spotless. If you want or need the cookie cutter amenities of the current chain motels/hotels this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a quiet older home with a wonderful hostess, this is it.

Very cute spot and great location. The host was very accommodating. Would definitely recommend.

The property was exactly as advertised. Dorothy was very responsive. Cozy and well cared for ate the words that come to mind to describe the property. It was near the sights that we wanted to visit. Sleeping was very comfortable. We would definitely choose to visit here again if we are back in the area.

The house is comfortable, welcoming and quiet. It’s a short walk to the Velvet Mall which features a local brewery, a wood fired pizza restaurant and a farmers market on Saturday morning. The location is close to local bookstores in Mystic and Westerly. Dorothy was easy to communicate with and we look forward to our next visit.

This is an older house near Stonington. It is relatively inexpensive for the area and offers a good value. The bed and sofa bed were very comfortable. The bathroom is small and in need of updating but everything functions well and was clean. It is convenient to Stonington and Mystic and was easy to find. We were there 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. Dorothy is very easy to communicate with.

My teenage daughters and I spent the week at Dorothy’s lovely apartment in Stonington while one of the girls spent a week at camp at Mystic Aquarium. The apartment was a good fit for three of us and very centrally located while still being peaceful and a restful place to come home to. The first days of our August stay were some of the hottest of the year and we did fine with the fans and Dorothy was kind enough to bring us one extra on a particularly hot day. Once the heat broke there were perfect garden breezes all day. The house is just a short distance from historic Stonington Borough and it’s lovely homes and beach. We watched the sunset from DuBois beach every evening. Dorothy is a wonderful host, she allows you privacy but is quick to answer questions and if you need anything she’s right there.
Thank you for the lovely stay!
