Spaciousness, comfy beds, good lighting
Kitchen had a weird mishmash of dishes, cutlery and glasses -- not nearly enough for a place accommodating 8 people. Dining table only seats 4 although 3 stools at sink island give space for 7 but again, not sufficient for a place billed as sleeping 8. Missing lots of little niceties, like games, bathroom bathmat, anyplace to hang one's clothes in the bathroom, etc. Our biggest complaints, though were (1) The electronic keypad for the front door went out after a couple days, and no attempt was made by host to replace the batteries. This locked us out of the place on a frigid evening and the only way we managed to get in was that our son discovered that (see next item). We had to resort to leaving/entering via the garage with a garage door opener we happened to find in a kitchen drawer for the remainder of our time there. (2) The lower level back sliding door was unlocked on our arrival (which we didn't realize until getting locked out of the unit) because the lock was broken! Good thing that we weren't burglarized! (3) The oven had a gas leak, prompting the gas company to come out and take the entire range out of service for THANKSGIVING weekend, when we had planned for home cooked meals all weekend long. The host did try to get the issue resolved and had a repairman come out but the problem was not fixable. This was incredibly distressing/inconvenient, and while we understand that the host was not able to resolve the range itself, we were not offered anything to help-- like a toaster oven or even a toaster to try get us by, and to add insult to injury, we were not given any rebate whatsoever on the rental fee. We ended up having to eat out several meals and scramble to try to do cooking off site for others. All in all, these problems really left us feeling unsupported and unvalued as guests.
