A Perfect Weekend Getaway from Life in the City
Sambane Game Lodge is the ideal getaway from city life
Maurice was a brilliant host
Nathi was a wonderful chef and ensured we were well fed during our visit
I only stayed one night and had to leave Drikus the Jack Russel dog behind . Drikus almost came home with me .

It is a great place to come on a long winter break. It is stunning. Will recommend it to others.
This is a stunning place, clean and most staff friendly. The breakfast was fantastic. This is true African bush veld and the sunset is beautiful. This is a great place for winter get aways. If you enjoy nature this is the place to come too.
It is battled to get out of property as you have to wait for someone to open the gate.
Seems no communication between staff and guest. We were not advised when we booked in there would be no game drives. This was reason we booked to have our kids enjoy animals. Only to hear there is hunting planned. However, no one advised us that we were not allowed to drive in bush. Just to be reprimanded like small kids that we disturbed the hunting. To actually drive all the way to our place to come and do this is not professional. We had no idea as we were not advised to drive. While driving we saw a bakkie with people, they could see us as well. Why did they not tell as then we were not allowed to be there. Not happy with the way we were treated.
Then we paid a small fortune for food which we were advised would be ready around 18. We specifically requested that pizza must only have cheese on it. Food was delivered around 7. Pizza had spinage on. The entire pizza was left untouched as our children don't eat this. We had to make another plan for food, they were very disappointed as they were excited for the pizza.
We in writing requested our VAT invoice to be given when we left. Did not happen, in fact there was no one to speak to when we left. We had to sit and wait for someone to open the gate when we left. This was not a good experience. There is a young gentleman I forgot his name, very polite and did his best to make all feel welcome. He made a difference.

Disappointing stay
Good service from staff and waiter who made our stay as pleasant as possible. Beautiful dinning area, pool and bar. Quiet and peaceful place with visits from the animals right outside your cottage.
Outdated cottages in need of a revamp, especially the bathrooms. Poor intermittent connection via wifi at the main reception area. Couldn’t lock the cottage at night/when we went out as the latch for the sliding door was fitted incorrectly.

The room going out to the pool was great. The breakfast was exceptionally tasty. The dinner was also well prepared and we enjoyed it. The staff at the lodge were friendly and helpful. We went for our 33 yrs wedding anniversary and felt at home. Jack did a lot of effort with setting up a picnic table at the dam.
The game drive was not so great. We did not see a lot of game - only rooibokke, wilde beast and a few giraffes. The guide was young and inexperienced. It also felt like he was in a hurry to get the game drive over with. Said as much to someone else - he wanted to be back at 17:00. We did enjoy the picnic table, champagne and platter, but felt in a hurry. Would have been nice to see more game and to enjoy the sunset at the dam.
