Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We booked the Hideout for the month of October. When we arrived, it felt like the place wasn't really ready for guests. There were cobwebs all over the place and it smelled dank inside. We bought some candles, opened the windows, and cleaned it up. We reached out to Sanctuary for a desk and chair so I could work while I was there, which they kindly provided. Unfortunately, it was all flat packed in boxes, so I had to build both items. I would recommend covers for the chairs in the backyard, so that they can stay a bit cleaner; they aren't all that inviting when they're covered in leaves and bird poo. The big issue we had though was we noticed what looked like sand on the kitchen table, and it took us awhile to figure out what it was. It wasn't sand, but termite feces which was dropping at a near-constant rate. We found the same situation in the primary bedroom. We had been eating and sleeping there for two weeks while termites pooped on us. As soon as we informed Sanctuary, they were quick to respond and inspect, confirm it was termites, and work with us to find another property for us to stay at. They made the best of a bad situation. But they should've known that Hideout wasn't ready for guests in the first place. Overall it was hugely disappointing to stay in Hideout for two weeks with termite poo, then have to pack up everything, move, and unpack again. It makes me a bit nervous to rent from Sanctuary in the future, I sadly I would avoid returning to Hideout.

Property is old but kitchen and one bathroom have been updated. The third bedroom and half bath were more modern. The furniture was barely adequate. I have rented several houses from you in the past and this was the least favorable of the bunch. The stairs from the street to the front deck are very dangerous, steps were steep and at inconsistent heights. I was shocked that they didn't have handrails or bannisters and couldn't have passed code in any other town I've been in. You should make sure you have adequate liability insurance because I think it likely you will have falls when people bring things from the street to the house. The location is excellent, very walkable to Ocean Ave and beyond.
