Everything about Masue's hospitality and beautiful guesthouse was exceptional. She was extremely warm, consistently helpful and communicative, and a true pleasure to have as our host. The guesthouse was lovely, sparkling clean and extremely comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the views of the peaceful garden and the local shrine right across the way. The delicious breakfast she prepared for us from all locally sourced ingredients was, bar none, the very best Japanese breakfast we have ever experienced - and we have been fortunate to enjoy many excellent breakfasts in Japan over the years. We highly recommend Komaian and Matsue to anyone considering a visit to Tokushima. It is an experience not to be missed, and we only wish we had been able to stay longer.

Staying at Komaian was a wonderful experience. We loved everything from the beautiful Japanese-style house, the historical walks, and meeting the host's parents, to the extravagant breakfast, local cultural insights, and delicious homemade cake. 👍

A newly built house in traditional Japanese style which has been thoughtfully designed to cater for visitors. It is clean, comfortable and spacious, and has all conveniences you could think of. Our host was warm and welcoming and happy to discuss sightseeing options etc.
Breakfasts were a highlight, prepared by our host in our own kitchen - very special. It is a great base to explore in and around Tokushima.
If coming by car, the streets close to the house are typically narrow 😊.

The accommodation was traditional very quiet, clean, well furnished and relaxing. The house was set in a lovely vegetable garden adjacent a small shrine
