The location was great - fairly remote, but not too far from the town, with stunning views across the sea and Caernarfon Bay towards Nefyn. The cottage is lovely, with a rustic feel, charming decor, and thick stone walls that keep it pleasantly cool during heatwaves. It has the feel of a place that has remained largely unchanged since the 1980s. But it was slightly more confined than the marketing photos suggest. The living room, for example, is quite narrow.
Sitting outside at the front of the property was wonderfully peaceful and relaxing, with only the sound of the sea, birds, and the occasional passer-by on the coastal path.
There's a beach directly below the property, but it's very pebbly, with large stones that make getting into the water difficult, particularly for inexperienced swimmers. I personally wouldn't recommend it for swimming, as the seabed drops away quite steeply beyond the pebbles. There's another, larger beach at Trefor, around a 20–30 minute walk away, although this too is quite pebbly.
Probably the biggest gripe was being asked to empty the bins on departure. After staying for a week with a family of four, that was a considerable amount of rubbish, yet there were no bins provided at the property or anywhere in the vicinity. This meant taking all of the rubbish away with us on the final day, which wasn't a great way to end the holiday.
There's also an electricity meter in the house, which takes £1 coins. Fortunately, we were made aware of this by email, but only on the day we travelled, meaning we had to find somewhere to exchange notes for coins - this took quite some time and meant we had to deviate from our route. As a family of four, we spent roughly £20 on electricity during the week, so guests should be aware of the additional cost. The meter also makes a surprisingly loud thudding noise when the credit runs out, which woke us up in the middle of the night.
Taken together, these arrangements gave the impression that some basic running costs and responsibilities had been passed on to guests rather than being included as part of the holiday experience.
Unfortunately, the cottage wasn't entirely clean, with dust and crumbs around the skirting boards. We also discovered a pair of shoes in one of the bedrooms, apparently left behind by previous guests.
We were only provided with one thin cleaning cloth for the entire week and one tea towel.
There was no oven glove, which would have been useful.
There was no dishwasher, which is fine in itself, but it did mean we spent considerably more time at the kitchen sink than we had expected.
The complete lack of internet access (including mobile data) was, in some ways, a refreshing change from the frenzied on-screen reality of modern life, but it had its drawbacks: we couldn't easily plan ahead, keep in touch with friends or family, or, as happened to us, call a doctor in an emergency. We had to go to the outskirts of Trefor to find a mobile signal.

Excellent location and good facilites
A quick check on the guest would have been good as we picked up keys from the box . Will be nice to have some interaction with the staff or someone local.
