Time travel at Granddad's A unique boutique holiday home that transports you back in time to a bygone era of simplicity, design and sophistication. As you step through the door, you'll be greeted by a warm welcoming atmosphere decorated to highlight the iconic style of the mid-century era, clean lines, with spashes of bold colors, amongthst the vintage furniture, art, books and pictures. The lounge area is perfect for relaxing and entertaining, with comfortable arm chairs, leather sofa, retro furnishings, fixtures, a vintage television and even working period record player with record’s to spin some golden tunes of yesteryear. Grandad also has a fully-equipped kitchen with all the modern amenities you would expect, whether you wish to cook a gourmet meal or perhaps even his favorite, a Lamb roast with vegetables, dough boys, and stewed rhubarb with vanila custard. For the outdoor chefs amd summer evenings there is a family sized BBQ. Each bedroom has been decorated in a different style with designer furnishings,statement lighting , art and and pictures.All beds are dressed with luxurious duvets, blankets, quality sheets and sumptuous pillows. Outside there is an enormous deck for entertaining, that leads down into a garden containing numerous fruit trees such as Plums, Apples, Grapes and Fejoas. As well as some more exotic types such as Custard apples, loquats, grapefruit and Macadamias nuts. Soak away your, cares in the Spa pool. Perfect after a days mountain biking or surfing the local beaches. On the lawn, you can enjoy some fun games of Swingball, Croquet or perhaps some Lawn Cricket with family and friends or stroll across the road into Parihaki Bush Reserve and explore dozens of walks. Located in a quiet neighbourhood, you will be just a short walk down the hill to the Skate park, Adventure playground , the Whangarei Town center, Hundervasser Muesuem, coffee shops, restaurants and the Riverside Loop walk. Grandads place is the perfect retreat away from the rush of modern life. His home is not your average cookie cutter holiday rental with soulless style. A home away from home. Loved introducing the kids to special things from the past. No TV watching needed but board games & soaks in the hot tub. Old records playing. Fully stocked kitchen. Nice quiet safe neighbourhood. Close to town. Highly recommend. Thanks Nick for helping us make special memories.

On arrival heaters were on making a nice warm arrival. There was some cookies, lollies and milk ready for a nice cuppa. Lovely house with some cool antiques. Was a very warm house even with heating off. Nice and cloae to town and parks. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Great location for both city and Whangārei Heads. A very comfortable house with good facilities and pleasant home with a well stocked kitchen. Very clean and spacious

Nick was such an amazing host couldn't of asked for more kindness as we were traveling up with my 87 year old grandfather and our family for a funeral of a very close family member. Nick made sure the house was beautiful and warm for him before we arrived and even gave us an early check in as we where traveling such a long way. The house itself was very clean, great facilities and even better than we could have hoped. Beds were so comfortable and we slept better than we had in days. Thank you so much!! Couldn't recommend this property and host more 😁

Such a cute retro home. Was tidy and welcoming. Lights and heating were on when we arrived. Communication was prompt and our host was kind enough to block dates ahead of our stay due to a bereavement. Will stay again.

This place is really well equipped, very clean, lovely linen and fluffy towels. Nice decor and is well located close driving distance to the town. Loved the props. Thanks Pop for a great stay.
