An absolutely awful and unacceptable stay, with appalling cleanliness, unpleasant conditions and poorly maintained facil

The photos on the website looked very warm and cozy which is why we originally booked. However, I found that these were very misleading.

Our stay was honestly awful from start to finish and fell far below any acceptable standard. The overall lack of cleanliness, unpleasant smell and poorly maintained facilities made the entire experience extremely disappointing. To begin with, it took us approximately 10 minutes just to gain access to the room due to the stiff and extremely difficult lockbox holding the key. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by a very strong, unpleasant smell, which only seemed to get worse as our stay went on. The floors were also extremely sticky and visibly dirty, to the point where we felt unable to walk around without shoes on for the entirety of our stay. When we began unpacking and looking through the kitchen for basic essentials such as pots, plates and bowls, the source of the awful smell quickly became apparent. The crockery was covered in leftover food and grime, with food so heavily stuck to the plates and bowls that it was incredibly difficult to remove. To make matters worse, the only sponge provided for washing up was old, dirty and covered in food residue itself. The kitchen was clearly not cleaned to an acceptable standard, with old hair, food debris and sticky cupboard and appliance handles throughout. It was genuinely unpleasant and unhygienic to prepare or eat food in the kitchen. The bathroom was equally appalling. There was hair all over the floor, visible dirt and a general lack of basic cleanliness that made using the space extremely unpleasant. It was evident that very little, if any, proper cleaning had taken place before our arrival. On top of the serious cleanliness issues, the advertised facilities were also not as described. The TV volume did not work, despite being advertised as a fully functioning television. There was also a fan listed as an available amenity, but instead we found a broken, dusty and dirty fan abandoned in the hallway, which appeared to be the very fan advertised for guest use.

Appalling, avoid

Central location

Property wise, it’s small, the crockery weren’t checked in between previous occupants and myself and hence were dirty, the shower was cold and the toilet barely fits in the bathroom, the door doesn’t shut to the bathroom once on the toilet either, you’d have to go down the side of the shower to shut the door and then onto the toilet. Host and organisation wise, they cancelled my booking on route to the property - I am a young female occupant travelling 3 and a half hours to stay here and suddenly facing being left homeless for the evening, panic ensues. Thankfully the hosts manage to find me an alternative, though I’m not sure why they didn’t do this before phoning me to avoid all this palaver, I got the impression if it wasn’t for another man interrupting the call they were not going to fix an alternative. Compensation was offered as way of an apology, I agreed to the alternative, and my journey continued. I arrived at 9pm, it’s a shared property with 1 communal doors leading to 4 consecutive flats, this didn’t feel very safe, coupled with the fact mine was on the street and to make matters worse the curtains were a nightmare to draw. The corridor stank of cigarettes, I don’t know whether the neighbours smoke indoors but it all contributed to what felt like quite an unpleasant place to stay. Not to mention the hole in the ceiling in front of the window which coincidently is not shown in the advertisement. Fast forward to a month later, I have attempted to contact the property via booking.com, email, x 2 phone numbers by call, text message and WhatsApp, all of which have been ignored. I did manage to speak to Bailey on one occasion, who clearly didn’t mean to answer to me, he made up some convoluted claim that he was responsible for maintenance and would forward my query onto the booking team and get back to me. Needless to say he, nor anyone else has responded, and to make matters worse upon checking original communication, he is responsible for the bookings.

Disappointed

Location was good the property was disappointing

Bathroom was mouldy needed a fresh coat of paint funny smell as soon as you got into the property kitchen was dreadful not much untensals wasn’t much of anything the bedroom was just basic the electrics need to be sorted behind the tv needs a paint as soon as we walked in I wanted to leave very noisy with lots of people coming and going

Value for money on a Thursday night but would not have been happy to pay the weekend prices.

Overall impression spoilt by main door handle partially unscrewed, dirty fridge interior, bathroom skylight and grubby crockery. Kitchenette felt uncared for.
