The hotel was beautiful, clean and had great amenities
While the hotel was excellent the staff and management were not what I would expect from an international 5 star hotel.
Most of the staff struggled with English which was very surprising and this made matters complicated.
More importantly the front desk just seemed chaotic and extremely disorganised with lack of communication between staff members leading to lots of confusion. We were initially charged a rather large deposit based on an incorrect room rate. We had 3 rooms, 2 of which weee booked direct and one with Booking.com. Upon checkout the hotel overcharged us for 2 of the 3 rooms and incorrectly associated transport charges to our rooms. This took days to resolve to get the correct refund.
This was only really possible with a Chinese speaking family member using WeChat to contact one of the front desk staff. Frankly, this was the most disappointing and frustrating part of the experience. 5 star or not we should not have been overcharged in the first place. Having to resolve the matter over WeChat is also ridiculous.
