From our first greeting at check in you felt completely welcomed and that the two Receptionists couldn't do enough for you. Big tick. Our room was lovely - spotlessly clean, good amenities, not fussy. We had light bites in the restaurant/ bar area and service and choices were great. Loved the location as quieter than all the hustle bustle of the city centre but regular trams drop you super close to the hotel and they're very regular. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
We had pre-paid for breakfast and when we turned up no one was there to greet us so we just sat down. Things were a bit all over the show and it wasn't clear if you helped yourself to hot drinks or whatever but it was ok. A waiter finally appeared and having ordered 2 americanos he was more interested in telling us we had to pay for these as they were charged at an extra cost to the filter coffee on the bar. We explained we had breakfast included. We then ordered refills and again it wasn't what he said but how he said it he said we would have to pay for these as you only got one each. Fine. We ate and left and as we hadn't given our room number as no one had asked he literally chased us down the corridor saying we hadn't paid. We really weren't bothered about paying for 2 cups of coffee but it was clumsily dealt with and to be honest we both found him rude and it meant that our stay ended on a bit of a negative. He really stood out from every other member of staff who were simply great.

Interesting, grand old building, located quite a way from central but the trams ran there easily. Parking hall underneath. We got an upgrade which was lovely as the room was spacious and nicely decorated. Beautiful style / decoration all across the hotel.
The upgraded room had a tiny shower area and the windows were very old & tall (in keeping with the building), but to close them you had to climb the radiator and dangle in the air which was not ideal. Breakfast looked basic and was spenny so we opted out.
The hotel was dog friendly (which is great!) and according to Hoxton Lloyd’s website all dogs get a bed, bowl, treats etc the whole nine yards but on our arrival there was nothing. The receptionist said I hadn’t informed them of me bringing a dog but I had, a month before, via Booking.com chat and email. I had to ask 3 times to get my dog these things, and finally at midnight someone brought a few items to me which was just very lazy. They were clearly trying to get me to just drop the matter which I wasn’t going to do. I had booked the room for 2 adults and the receptionist thought I was staying by myself so FYI they dont really keep up to date / read what is on Booking.com. I have stayed at Hoxton before and thought the service here unfortunately wasnt up to the standards.

Beautiful room, very comfortable and spacious
Poor sound insulation: our room was on the street side (halfway below street level) and coincidentally right below a very noisy party in the building.

Beautiful historic building with stylish interiors and a great atmosphere in the communal areas. The location is also excellent - close to Central Station, the waterfront and plenty of shops.
Unfortunately, two service issues significantly affected our stay. We accidentally left a special bottle of wine in the room fridge and contacted the hotel later the same day, but were told nothing had been found. The first person we spoke to also failed to come back to us as promised, and it took several calls to get any follow-up. We were ultimately left with no explanation. For a hotel charging over £210 a night without breakfast, I would expect better handling of lost property and more proactive service.
Separately, while looking for the hotel bar, we walked into a private function because there was no signage indicating that the area was closed to guests. We only realised when one of the attendees told us, which made for an unnecessarily awkward situation. A simple sign would have avoided this entirely.
Most of the staff were pleasant, but these two incidents left us disappointed with the overall level of service.
