We stayed at Oakwood, Pinewood Retreat during the May half-term as a family and had a really enjoyable stay overall.
The lodge itself is spacious, comfortable and very well laid out. We especially loved the bathroom – having a separate shower and bath was a real luxury, and the bath is huge! The bedrooms were lovely, the kitchen was well equipped with a good-sized oven and fridge freezer, there was plenty of parking, and the peaceful setting made it a great place to relax.
The indoor swimming pool was excellent. It was always quiet when we visited, a lovely temperature, and only a short walk from the lodge.
The holiday park itself was easy to find, although locating the lodge was a little trickier. Thankfully, the staff were incredibly helpful and quickly pointed us in the right direction.
Overall, we had a wonderful holiday and would happily stay again. The lodge is in a great location, is peaceful, comfortable and well presented, and we'd definitely recommend it to others.
There were a few small things that would make an already lovely lodge even better. Some extra cups, along with child-friendly cups and plates, would be useful for families. Stackable dining chairs would create a little more space when they're not needed and would also give the vacuum cleaner somewhere practical to be stored. An umbrella for the picnic table would also make sitting outside more comfortable on sunny days.
The on-site information folder could do with updating. For example, the washing machine now costs £4 per wash.
The TV was probably our biggest disappointment. It's not a smart TV, so we couldn't sign into streaming apps or use it for gaming in the evenings. The Wi-Fi occasionally dropped out, although it was generally good. A smart TV would make a big difference for families staying for a week or more.
After speaking to other members of the pool, it seems the outdoor swimming pool has been out of use for quite some time due to ongoing work, so it may be worth removing it from the advertised facilities until it's available again. The parrots and cockatoos were interesting to see but were noisy and looked as though they could benefit from more enrichment. The "children's play area" is really just two swings and a bench in direct sunlight, so families with younger children may find it more limited than expected.

Property in a quiet restful location.
Bedding was stained with bown patches. Single bed sheets not big enough - didn't tuck in. No oven instructions - couldn't get it to heat up. Only 3 saucepans. Bin lid didn't shut - flies. Dirty tablecloth. Hoover in lounge - unsightly ornament when on holiday. No toilet roll on arrival.

Great site, well maintained and quiet. The Lodge was clean and well presented.
There was no support from Sykes Cottages or Lyme Bay Holidays. We were not given a fob to access the swimming pool and no one responded to our messages calls or emails. The electrics also began to trip out repeatedly and no one responded to our reports on this either which was really poor.
