Of the four places where my family of five stayed in Iceland, this was our favorite. We had trouble pronouncing Icelandic place names, so we simply called this "Stunning House," and it really lived up to its name. Extremely clean, spacious, and well-decorated. The hosts were friendly and reached out to us to ask if we needed anything. But we didn't because the place was perfect. The hosts gave us advanced, detailed instructions on how to collect keys on arrival, and we had no problems at all. The kitchen was well stocked. Even laundry soap was provided. We used this house as a base not only to explore Vik but even as far as Jökulsárlón and Diamond Beach (a long day trip, but it is possible). The local supermarket closed early, but the house provided ice packs in the freezer, and we used these to stock up on groceries in Vik (over an hour away, but the supermarket was open until 9 pm) and bring supplies home. The hot tub was perfect after long days of hiking. Note that there are two routes from the Route 1 Ring Road to get to the house - 261 or 250. Part of 250 is gravel and slow, so we quickly learned to always use 261 (fully paved and fast) even when approaching the house from the east.

The house is well located to explore the south, and it is in a very calm area. It is extremely well equipped, with all supplies required for cooking (the hosts even provided us with baking tins, when we mentioned are plans of baking a birthday cake during our stay). The hosts are very easy to communicate with and can be reached quickly if any questions. The house is clean and well maintained, the hot tub and grill are making the stay even more special.
