No photos can do justice to the mountain views - it is wonderful to watch the change in light and atmosphere through the morning, afternoon and dusk. The night the cows were brought through the lane was amazing! The huge windows downstairs means you can enjoy those stunning views even as you cook dinner or clean at the end of the stay. Mr Dubarry is a very nice owner, with lots of information about the best places to visit in the area. He lives on site but has that perfect balance between being available and giving you privacy. There are barbecues on the outside terrace and the kitchen is well stocked including a kettle and toaster. Parking is outside the front door and bins are also on site. A big group with a dog was staying next to us but we were not disturbed by noise. The Boulanger and Post Office, along with some restaurants, are within easy 10-15 minute walking distance, and there are large grocery stores and petrol stations with a 10-15 minutes drive. I'll also recommend the nearby Castle of the Eagles, about a 10 minute drive away and visible from the edge of the garden, for a visit - the two afternoon shows last just over an hour and although we were the only non-French visitors and couldn't understand the commentary, it was spectacular to watch!
Having to pay extra in cash for bedding and tourist tax and having to bring your own towels was a bit of a hassle which I don't want to deal with on holiday, but things are done differently here in France, such as the cleaning at the end of the stay, and French people probably see this as all very normal. French square pillows and long duvets are a different size to the UK so UK visitors I recommend you just hire the bedding. The rest of the stay was perfect and it's worth overlooking this to enjoy the spectacular setting.
