The tents were ridiculously spacious and comfortable (heated rugs, etc.). The view was lovely (it was hard to get down to the town, Manazuru, so if you want to go exploring, you'd better enjoy walking). The food was off-the-charts good. Get the French toast (4-5 inches thick)! The suppers were amazing multi-course affairs. The staff is super-friendly, super-helpful, hard-working. Takeshi, the co-owner, literally sleeps 3-4 hours/night when he's in charge. Nice guy, very accommodating. This is a business that deserves to thrive. We had a great time.
There were only two things that seemed off-target. 1) If you want wine or other things they sell at the camp, expect to pay double what you'd pay at a store. You pay for the convenience. 2) They did a cheese fondue to go with our boar hot-pot. But it wasn't really a cheese fondue; it was a Camembert disc melted. It takes more than that to do a fondue, guys. I don't blame them, though, because Japan isn't really a cheese-centric culture. But only those two things. The rest was perfect.
