This was such an amazing place to stay - peaceful, welcoming, friendly and you just feel like coming home.
Mama Effi, her husband and the whole family of Hisar Guesthouse are such amazing hosts. The food there was just amazing and the trip around the island with Krisan, Mama Effi's husband, was just mind-blowing.
Can only recommend this beautiful place!

Schönes großes Zimmer, top Aussicht. Mama Evi ist sehr nett aber auch recht aufdringlich.
An 2 von 4 Tagen war es ziemlich laut. Wir haben das Personal dabei beobachtet wie sie den Müll der abgereisten Hotelgäste einfach in den See geworfen hat. Als wir nachgesehen haben, mussten wir feststellen dass es sicherlich nicht das 1. Mal war dass Müll in den See geworfen wird. Reinigung im Zimmer gab es während des Aufenthaltes nicht. Preis-Leistung ist hier nicht gegeben.

Un accueil extraordinaire de Hisar et de sa femme. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié nos échanges avec eux. Des personnes comme on aimerait en rencontrer davantage ! Ils sont prêts à répondre à toutes les demandes avec beaucoup de réactivité et avec enthousiasme.
Le confort de la chambre pour le prix payé est incroyable : douche chaude, lit confortable, ventilateur si besoin, serviettes de toilette, et vue sur le lac.
La nourriture est simple mais goûteuse.
Le bruit des travaux sur le fronton en réfection qui gâche un peu l'ambiance calme du lieu.

Honestly, we were so sad to leave this homestay. Hisar, Mama Effy and their family are the perfect hosts and made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. They genuinely care about their guests and always made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.
The room was spacious with plenty of space to unpack our large backpacks, and the shelving unit made organising and repacking very easy. The mattress was comfortable, and the views across Lake Toba were absolutely breathtaking. The atmosphere was so peaceful and quiet, making it the perfect place to relax and slow down.
The family are also planning further refurbishment and development, and we are excited to see how this lovely place grows in the future.
It is important to understand that this is a simple, budget-friendly homestay, so you get what you pay for. The rooms are basic and currently do not include extras such as towels or toiletries. However, this was reflected in the price and did not take away from our overall experience.
