The River Retreat Buchan

The bistro portion of the River Retreat was closed for renovations to we couldn’t visit it. The owners were thoughtful and considerate as they worked on the restoration while caring for us. The room where we stayed was just refinished and the space was top notch. Beautiful fixtures, lovely tiles and flooring, wonderful linens. It is clear that when the owners complete their renovations that this will be a first class establishment.

I wish we could have seen the completed bistro. The careful restoration of the guest room indicates that the new bistro will likewise be well done.

Great location and fantastic hosts who made us very welcome. Accommodation is well kept, rustic and very clean. Quiet location was fantastic.

Nice place, and we saw the kangaroo jumping around, then the honest man let us pick up the kiwi from his yard.

Everything is good.

It was convenient and clean, had a good bathroom and comfy bed

Very small room, nowhere to hang clothes or open small suitcases, too expensive, no real reception, tv hard to navigate. Heating inadequate for the winter night
