The actual site is beautiful. The river is right outside your cabin door down a short rolling hill of manicured grass, that has leveled areas for sitting or games. There were plenty of Adirondack chairs to sit on by the river and around the fire pit, and even some games like badminton and cornhole available to set up and play. There are some lovely trees on the property so if it is a sunny day you will be able to enjoy the river under shade, and there is a nice stretch of beach for this property. The river is not wild where it flows here (unless that is just due to the time we were here in early September) and is shallow to walk into from the edge, so good for wading and swimming. The grass and tree area is fitted with strings of solar lights which is very pretty in the evening, and helps guide you down the little pathways to the river or firepits. Also, firewood is provided, which is great! The cabin had tv's in both the living room and the bedroom and the bathroom was large and had a tub if you need it, or just want to relax in a bubble bath. Besides your own private deck, there is a large communal patio area with multiple gas grills, tables and even some outsized games such as KerPlunk and Jenga. The location is about 5 minutes from downtown Grants Pass, so close, but you feel like you are off the grid a bit. There was plenty of parking for us, (although we were there when the cabins weren't all booked) but you can see there is parking in front of the cabins and also some accessory parking off to the side. The host said there was laundry available (if he showed us how to use it) but we ended up not needed it, but nice to know it was available. Also, the host was easy to communicate with and returned texts promptly. Lastly there was a very friendly chicken that came to our deck every day and even let us pick her up! She was not loud, and only made sort of purring noises.
This first part is specific to the cabin we rented...Cabin #5, the "Hideaway Cabin" and it was definitely not "hideaway" It sits right outside the communal patio, and even though the other cabins weren't always rented on our stay, the host and his friends would hang out there. If you want more privacy stay in Cabin #1, which is on the opposite end of the property, furthest away from everything. The pull out couch is fine for sitting, but horrible for sleeping. The kitchenette in our cabin also seemed like an afterthought. It has no upper cabinets or even shelves and the two base cabinets are both sink base cabinets with no shelves underneath. This means all your cookware, dishes, silverware, etc is down on the bottom level of a cabinet, and half of it is under the sink. Pictures of of the other cabins show they all have either shelves or cabinets. Not sure what happened here, but it was anything but convenient. There was only two butter knives among the silverware (we brought our own plastic so fine there) but the only frying/saute pan was so large it didn't fit on the two burner stove or in the tiny sink and was hard to use/wash. There was no drainboard, so we bought one and left it for the cabin. Hopefully they are in the process of finishing this kitchenette? The mini split air conditioner was in the bedroom so while it is nice to have air conditioning, it seemed it should be in the living area as the bedroom was often too cool and the living area not cool enough (but small complaint as we were happy to have air conditioning) The tiki torches did not work on the patio....none of them. And somebody had pulled the window shade down so far in our livingroom that it was passed it's spring and would not roll back up.

The location on the river allows safe soaking in the river. A large secured float mat made laying in the sun a lot more enjoyable. There were plenty of chairs available for everyone. Provided firewood made the evenings warm outside and a great way to meet and talk with ohers. The rooms were as described so there were no surprises. The location of the property is close to town and local winerys.
There was confusion when we arrived because there isn't an office to check into. I walked around the property and finally called the number on the properties sign. The unit and combination were given. The BIG issue was the room we booked wasn't the room we were given. We booked Cabin Five, months in advance. There were people in the unit we reserved when we arrived. There is a BIG difference in the unit we reserved vs the one we were given. No explanation or apology was given. We have never experienced anything close to this happening with a reservation. I would also suggest a cutting board and a serrated knife. It would have helped in cutting the artisanal bread we bought in town to go with the local wine. More storage and places to hang clothes are needed..
