Ashland Commons Hostel

The feeling I had was more of staying in a home than in a hostel. The facilities were cleaned and well-stocked. The host was available and attentive. My bed was very comfortable and people in my room were very considerate of others. Most of the people at the hostel were on the Pacific Crest Trail. I stayed for over 5 days so I got to see about 4 different groups of folks coming through. Everyone was friendly and there was lively conversation. The World Cup was on YouTube at the hostel so sometimes we watched together. A few people were attending the Shakespeare Festival. In general there was a very homey feeling and very interesting people. Way better than being at a hotel. I was very pleased and felt lucky to have found such a good place to stay. I would definitely stay again.

There is a facility next door where folks were exercising early in the morning and that noise was distracting. However, closing the window helped a lot.

Quirky and totally pure Ashland. Which I appreciate.

The beds have waterproof pads under the sheet. It is extremely crinkly and noisy, and makes the beds extra warm. I didn’t appreciate that so much.
