We chose Monte Gocta in San Pedro over being in the more popular access town, Cocachima, and we are SOOOO glad we did. Yes it is a very small town and there are only two stores. But it has everything you need and having access to a kitchen was key to our stay there since we cooked dinners for ourselves. The upper falls was vastly less crowded than the lower falls and the hike there is gorgeous. We actually also hiked all the way to the lower falls and back up in one day but it was pretty grueling on the way back. So we just saved the upper falls for a second day hike. The breakfasts were super delicious but we had to pay for them so be sure if they are included or not. The hosts were also really fabulous but they are not the owners. The hotel is literally right on the trailhead to the upper falls so that was awesome.
It was a little rough when it came to paying because they only took cash and there are no options to access cash ANYWHERE nearby. Just plan ahead and bring plenty. We came up pretty short and barely had enough to get the colectivo back to Chapapoyas.

A acomodação fica logo no início da trilja para Gocta. A atençao e o serviço foram excelentes. Tudo o que pedimos foi feito. O café da manhã também era muito gostoso e a ducha era quente! Eu voltaria com certeza a hospedar-me aí.
