We stayed 3 nights in Room 429 at the Hotel Relais del Normanni.
It was a large room, with separate bedroom, walk-in robe & luggage storage, sitting & eating area with two large sofas, table & 4 chairs, plenty of storage cupboards, large bathroom with dual sinks. Great location, (about 150m to old city), door from bedroom to large terrace with outdoor table & 4 chairs with view to castle & old city, undercover parking, buffet style breakfast included with many choices.
Located on the same property & adjacent to the Palace Hotel San Michele about 20m away. Reception services, breakfast & pool are located within the Palace Hotel San Michele. The reception staff kindly held our luggage when we arrived about 45 minutes prior to the check-in time of 1500 & were told that our room was not ready. Being told that the room may not be ready for another hour, we went to visit the old city for a couple of hours. The staff had delivered our luggage to our room by the time we returned to reception to collect our room key.
The room was clean & quiet & serviced daily. Clean bathroom towels were supplied daily, though we had not requested this. A sign in the bathroom said to leave dirty laundry in the bidet (if wanting it changed), which we didn’t do.
There were magnificent views over Manfredonia to the sea & across the countryside from the front & back terraces of the Palace Hotel San Michele.
While clean & mostly comfortable, the room was requiring some maintenance. For example: the heavy window curtains had come off the rails over the door to the terrace, so could not be closed properly & were bunching on the floor at the doorway & allowing unwanted light into bedroom when sleeping; the large circular shower cubicle had a significant water leak from the shower cubicle / door on to bathroom floor; the toilet flush mechanism frequently got stuck & flowed continuously until the flush button was pushed repeatedly to stop. The sitting & eating area was very dark, with one light not working. The fridge was tiny. Cigarette butts were blowing around on the ground of the outdoor terrace. While the mattresses were comfortable, the double bed consisted of two single beds put together, with noticeable spreading overnight.
Lots of bus tour groups stay overnight at the Palace Hotel San Michele. We saw these groups in the large breakfast room. There was a wide range of items on the breakfast buffet, however the boiled eggs were cold & overcooked each day with a grey / green inside ring, the scrambled eggs were inedible at our first breakfast & not tried again, the bacon was cold & oily, although in a warmer, it wasn’t working. Despite this, we were satisfied with other breakfast choices available.
Despite the areas mentioned that provide opportunities for improvements, we would definitely stay at Hotel Relais Normanni in Monte Sant'Angelo again & would highly recommend for location & other features.
