Convenient location, short walk from the town centre.
Modern, with a reasonably equipped kitchen.
Nice social but quiet atmosphere.
Mattress was comfortable enough, but had a big dip in it and clearly needs replacing, the pillow was really lumpy and uncomfortable.
The room wasn’t cleaned in the two days I was there, when I arrived there was hair in the shower and it was still there when I left. The plaster that was on the bedroom floor also remained there until I picked it up myself. The shared toilet in the kitchen was filthy, I walked in when the seat had been left up and it had loads of urine stains and faeces. I’ve been living in hostels for months now, and it’s pretty standard practice to clean communal spaces daily.
The owner was quite pushy to get me to send him his number so he could send me the tour info, but I later saw there was QR codes for this everywhere and it was unnecessary for him to have my personal number unless I wanted to give it. I also found he became a lot less attentive once it was apparent I wasn’t booking my excursions through him.
It’s a shame, the hostel has a good setup, and small tweaks would make a huge difference. So close, but so far.
