The Beach For your use only, there is a brand-new boardwalk that extends directly from the property, across a grassy salt marsh, to your own private beach, which is perfectly sandy, and the water is significantly warmer than at the ocean beaches (typically by 8 to 12 degrees). Note that the tides are extreme and at low tide the bay water retreats several hundred yards. The upside of low tide is that it provides you and the kids the opportunity to explore the stretch of the exposed bay floor. Shell fisherman, who harvest the famous oysters, will work on their oysters and clams at low tide. You are encouraged to talk to them, and maybe if you bring a $20 bill or two, you can buy a burlap bag of oysters.
