Nice and warm and close to city centre and food all around

Cozy. If you don’t mind walking, the city center is walkeble, it’s nice too that Aldi’s is close if you want to buy fruits or groceries if you plan on making meals.
The water faucet in the kitchen is leaking. The house has only one standing shower.

The accommodation itself was not bad, and the facilities were good. There is free on-street parking in a fairly quiet part of town, and you’re only a ten to fifteen minute easy walk from the city centre. There’s also an Aldi just around the corner, so in terms of location and basic facilities, it’s pretty good.
However, there is a significant issue with the booking that is not made clear at the time of booking. After paying in full, you are required to agree to a further €300 “security deposit”. I have stayed in B&Bs and self-catering apartments all over Scotland, and I have never once been required to pay an additional security deposit on this scale. It feels more like renting a house on a long-term lease than booking short-term accommodation.
Then there are the beds, which are the biggest problem. The rooms themselves are perfectly adequate, but the mattresses are simply not fit for purpose. This isn't just a matter of personal preference. They are visibly old and compressed, with springs pressing painfully into the body.
On the first night, I got virtually no sleep at all. I tried all three rooms and eventually ended up sleeping on the sofa, which, being a tall laddie, required a rather impressive act of balance and contortion.
On the second night, I worked out that if I folded the duvet over double, took a second duvet from another bed and doubled that over as well, then layered them on top of the mattress, I could create enough padding to get close to a decent night's sleep. But having to construct your own mattress padding isn't really what you expect when booking accommodation, particularly when you've already been required to pay an additional €300 security deposit.
Overall, I'm disappointed.
The location and facilities are perfectly fine, and it wasn't a terrible stay. But the unexpected security deposit, the general condition of parts of the property, and particularly the state of the beds are serious drawbacks. I wouldn't stay here again and, as such, I wouldn't recommend it.
