Lovely location out on the Moor with fabulous views. Booked a table in the restaurant when we booked our room as we read it was popular - good job we did as it was almost full on a Monday night! We knew it was mostly a steak menu with rave reviews and the reviews were completely true. The steaks were up there with the best we've had - and the accompaniments were also delicious. The staff were excellent - friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again - although would make sure we had one of the en suite rooms.

Evening meal, breakfast and staff were all excellent. As we got wet we asked one of the staff if they had a hair dryer and they were very helpful in lending us a brand new one! Thank you.
Frank was great to talk to and comped us our breakfast for our wedding anniversary, which was lovely of him. Fantastic location near Tavistock but right on the moors and access to everywhere we wanted to go.
The room was lovely, but the facilities were tiny and difficult to navigate! The shower was narrow and the shower kept 'dropping down'. The sink is so small it is virtually impossible to use or brush your teeth! The loo was on a 'plinth' which made it difficult to use. The kettle was hard to fill in the tiny sink and then had to be left on the floor as the lead wasn't long enough to put it on the table. There was an extension lead which we landed up having to use for this. I know this is really a restaurant with rooms and the rooms are nice, but the shower/loo are 'horned in'. Luckily we had a view out of the front of the pub, people that had rooms on the back of the pub would not have a view!

Location good, FABULOUS FOOD, good bed/views, impossible “bathroom” with unusably tiny sink where you couldn’t avoid bumping your head every time you washed your face or brushed your teeth. No real hanging or storage space. Awful coffee from the bar. The evening meal of steak and fries was absolutely mouthwatering, HOWEVER what really was the pits was that after booking breakfast, we duly came downstairs at 9.25 next morning only to find the whole area deserted. Not a staff member to be seen, let alone kitchen staff. We had no option but to leave a note on the bar and depart.
Would have been good to have had the breakfast we booked plus the sink in the so called bathroom is a joke. And serve some decent coffee in the bar, it’s very important.
