If you truly want to embrace Japanese culture, I highly recommend this resort. Be sure to request the breakfast option during your stay. The meal is outstanding. This property is definitely used by locals in the area. The massage services were excellent.
A few portions of the resort could use minor renovations.

お部屋に半露天風呂がついていて、
朝風呂に入ったのですがとても気持ちよかったです。
受験のために泊まって、試験日の朝、ご飯を食べられる余裕がなくて困っていたのですが、お弁当用に朝ごはんを詰めて頂いて、とても有難かったです。
アクセスが少し悪かったです。
バスで古宿まで行って、歩いていったのですが、
ナビで違う道が表示されて、迷子になってしまいました。あと、山の中腹とまでは行きませんが、坂道の上にあるので、歩いて行くことはおすすめしません。でもそこにあるからこそ景色はとても綺麗です。
